Unidentified American car in UK scrapyard

    Nice weather , a few days off work so i decide to check out an old scapyard near me in the UK which shut it's doors over 20 years ago.
    spotted this American straight 8
    Anyone know what it is ?
    (it's the second car in the 1st photo )

    Well its a valve in block so that rules out Buick. Pontiac would be my best guess.
     
  4. Hudson and Packard also had flathead eights in the late 30's thru the late 40's.

    Didn't think of Packard, the body doesn't seem to have the Hudson "hump" but it's hard to tell. The rotten air cleaner might be a clue. Looks like it went across the motor and was on the left side.

    the engine above is a hudson 254.

    Easy fixer upper. Just don't have the time. Would sell for 60k + at Barrett-JAckson.

    well, it proves one thing; when an Englishman says "Junkyard" he MEANS JUNK YARD. however, to some Brits, that pile 'o crap is a diamond in the rough. only Brits can pick up an emblem off of a hubcap tomorrow and have built a complete car around it by Labor day.

    Bedford JO, i think looking at the front wings very similar cab to the Chevrolet AD pick up ( there,s one near me it looks the same but there are differences)
