The 65 Continental had a single MC also.

Have you considered just keeping your present system maintained properly and inspect it on a regular basis?

    Got E-brake?

Properly inspected and serviced Single MC system works just fine for an experienced driver.

It used to be a 2000 mile inspection. Adjust the brakes and inspect for stains around components, backing plates and such. A failing MC will start leaking fluid and last a long time after that. Failing internally, they start feeling spongy, requiring pumping, but that's warning enough to get them fixed. Problem is some people ignore the warnings. Even with a line springs a leak you get some warning.

Even if one ignores these subtle reminders and goes for broke, it takes two or three complete pumps to empty a system, which is plenty of time to slow down and pull over using the E-brake. That is, unless the driver has his head up his *** and ignores the symptoms that always preceed complete failure.................

If you are going to turn the car over to an inexperienced driver, or doubt your own reaction in an emergency, then of course you might want the advantages of a dual MC.

I've still got one 55 Olds with a stock MC on it (new), but only because it's basically stock throughout except for the custom touches.

My second 55 Olds and every other 55 I've ever owned got the MC moved to the firewall where the driver's side air box is. The blocked off section just pushes more air over to the p***enger side and you still have the wing vent on your side. Always been well worth it to me. I'm running a 68 Olds swinging pedal which mounts to the backside of the MC which is also supported by dash mounts. Works well and not expensive. Sure is easier to check the brake fluid too........

I have the whole cowl vent running to a cold air induction system that takes about 15 minutes to set up when wanted on my current 55 Olds.

I mounted mine off of the original ( just behind using 10 gauge for a bracket) with a long adjustable rod going through it.

sir woosh you say your using a stock mc on one of your oldsmobiles. does that olds have front disc?

29nash. the set up i have now is single mc with a booster, and disc up front. if maintained do you think it will work just fine with the addition of a proportioning valve?

I'm running disc brakes on the one pictured. But was using a 68 unit for all drums before going to the 74 unit to include disc. Like was said earlier, I replaced and maintain the stock unit on my other 55 and it works great. Good luck!
