I have a friend who is doing some work on a 32 sedan. Owner wants to add A/C vents and controls in an extension under dash. Seems like someone used to manufacture such an item that followed the lower dash curve nicely. Am I correct, anyone know where to acquire one?
WHY ? There is room in the ends of the dash to cut holes for the vents ... and Vintiage Air has a control that fits the bottom taper of the 32 Ford dash. With a little careful planning and placement of the unit ( Vintage Air Generation II mini ) you do not even see the A/C unit. On my 32 3W coupe ... I used a Vintage Air control panel that did not taper to fit the bottom of the dash. ( they were out of stock at the time ... ) But a small metal adapter plate was made and then woodgrained ... so you do not notice it either. I have a power plug mounted out of sight on the top of the panel ( to run my GPS or charge my cell phone ) . So it all worked OUT for the BEST
Thanks for the picture Duece Roadster. Owner doesn't want to cut holes in the dash [??] and wants to retain control of the cowl vent. I will forward your picture.
We have made a few of those lower panels for some of the cars here at the shop never truly happy with the finished look, but i can understand not wanting to mess up a good dash. Putting AC in a 32 is a major project little room under the dash. The cowl vent on the 32 has to be functional it is one of the defining marks that make it cool. But 45.00 for the one on ebay it would be extremely hard to make one that cheap. couldn't get any pics to load up this morning.
Thanks okiedokie he just bought one thismorning i have made and sold over 60 of these things people seam to like them.
