I'm having a rummage sale next week and I'm wondering what the going price is for old R&C, Street Rodder-type mags... I'm looking to unload about the last 100 or so that I have in stock.

Like most things printed I'd say that condition along with content has a lot to do with the price. I'd probably bundle those by the year and try to sell them a year at a time instead of individually.
I'd watch a few similar ones on Ebay and see what they are going for and start there on price. Looks like prices are all over the place.

Personally, I p*** them up at a buck...UNLESS they have something of value in them (like a good tech article that I want). If they have something I really need/want to know in them, I'll pay up to five bucks.

I'd say price them each at somewhat less than $5, and hope the right person comes along for some of them. Give the rest away to a kid who is just getting interested in our hobby.

I have done swap meets and usually charge $3 for common magazines. I normally have a couple thousand with me, all bagged in plastic bags and in magazine boxes. I usually do pretty well. The older the mag, the more $$$.....Also, if you can still order the back issue through the publisher.

  6. I usually use that stuff as packing material, unless it's R&C. I never give up a R&C. At the Indy Road Rockets show, some guy set up a box full and posted a sign saying something like, "FREE MAGAZINES: P*** the knowledge on to a child". Not a bad idea to p*** 'em out to kids at a show...I know I would have worn it out as a kid. I do now!!

    I git it. ;)

  10. The cost of postage for most of them, but I'm still a big fan of Custom Rodder. I'd buy those myself barring ba*****t funk or smoke. Keep me in mind if they're extremely nice. Centurion9

Can one person be "more" astute than another while attending a rummage sale?

I'm thinking about culling mine and sending the non-keepers to a Veterans Hospital.

while I tend to agree with this, I see them regularly for $1 per as swaps.

  20. The dealers get close to current cover for singles, but if you want to sell them, a buck a shot and like 6 for $5, 15 for $10, etc. will move them. Usually you're not going to get more than that unless you run into the one guy who needs a particular article or issue to complete a collection. I don't even take more than a handful to flea markets because they're too damned heavy to carry a bunch for someone to thumb through and give you a dollar for one of them.

Thats what I've been doing lately with all the current issues of the mags I get, including the GG Gazette and People.

I read that one. If you have enough Street Rodders in your trunk, it will help the rings seat from the magnetic field from the metal strip in the binding of the mag.
