I thought that dumpster was pretty damn funny. (now the rat thing was ungly as*****) I bet the guy who built it is probably fun to********* with...did noone ever do some goofy***** in their life??? This guy does something fun with his time and he gets treated like*****.***** it dude thats funny. AND HE DIDNT EVEN POST IT...if I ever see it my way I want to have a beer with you man...to the the uptight peckers, its just for fun. Guess the health care plan got everyone all pissy.
Some people only want music they like played Some people only want food they like served. Some people only want movies they like viewed. Some people only want cars the like shown. Some people are very selfish. I was at the Myrtle Beach Show and enjoyed it very much. I saw cars that didn't appeal to me but I didn't stand there and bash it in front of the owner. There were some truly ugly cars there just as almost any car show you go to. But it is not my duty or anyone elses to tell anyone how they should build THEIR car. The Myrtle Beach Show is a fun gathering of people who should have only one thing in common....the love of cars. There is music I don't like...food I don't like...movies I don't like...and yes cars I don't like. But I have never got a kick out of telling someone I don't like their car and I will never understand how a true car enthusiast can.
I was pleased to see the bigger turn out and some different cars. I've decided 2400 is about my limit! We're in Nova/Chevelle/Camaro country around here and they all start blurring together and I miss some of the cooler stuff. I had a buddy spend 20 minutes yesterday telling me all about beanis' truck, sorry I missed that. For those of you that made the trip out for the show, thanks for coming to visit and I'm glad we had some nice weather for you.
If you get the opportunity to check out beanis' truck.....take some time and look at the details. The weathering is fantastic, as are all the correct "junk" on the dash and in the cab. Yo, beanis, post up some detail pic.s! I enjoyed talking to you. As for the dumpster.......Yeah, its a**************. He knows its a**************. He was having more fun in his************** that most of the polishers, critics, and rod snobs(many of them right here, apparently). This hobby is about fun. I meant to give him a Retarded Sparks sticker or 2, He is definately of the mindset we like to hang with. We don't take ourselves seriously, you shouldn't either.
okay I was there. I am going to post up some pics tomorrow of the show. There was plenty there that people on the Hamb would actually like. Hung out with East Coast Artie, had a lot of fun. Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
I'd about bet over half of you close minded whinners of Rat Rods and Odd Rods have your shrines to the creative Ed Roth ! Huh ! I guess he built cookie cutter rods too !!!!! Be it a dumpster or anything else ,who cares if it don't fit everyones style,, go read one of you Hemmings catalogs or something !!!
I believe some of you folks are missing the point. Somewhere along the passage of time people from the south have been stereotyped as "rednecks". I guess dumpster hot rods and rat rods help drive that home. Notice that these wrecks garnered more attention than anything else there, but the attention is negative, get it? Negative actions get 10 times the attention that positive ones do. Some of us are just trying to break the stereotype and yes get pissed when their hard work is hampered by actions such as these.
your kidding right you really feel threatened by what some one else builds or drives??? what a fragile little world of black and white . these guys are not threatened by lawn chair cruisers or trailer queens . no doubt the builders scorned here could care less of what you think they should be or what they should drive . when did our passion for all things hot rodded become so starch laddened?
no we do not feel threatened but as shawn was saying some of us here in the south don't much care to play into the stereotypes that we have been stuck with over the years. this is a matter of opinion you are allowed to voice your opinions just the same as I am. but it would greatly help if you understood the point first. this is not about bashing some dudes*****. this is about those of us who take a great deal of pride in our cars and in the south are tired of being type casted into these rolls of being jack legged rednecks that adorn everything with stuffed rats and load their vehicles down with every********* trinket they can find. sorry but a rolling Spencer's is not exactly what I would consider hot rods about. further more to the dude that made the smart**** Roth comment, Roth never built a rolling catch all of stuff that he bought at the mall if people want to build this kinda*****, sweet I don't*****ing care. however when people start lumping me in with those cars, that's where I have to draw the line... so this isn't about any one being threatened by some one else's car this is about taking pride in your***** and not getting lumped in with the dudes that build cars for shock value. I quit dying my hair blue in the early 90's for a reason because I grew up.
Hmmm...easy there young fella...save the intensity for things that really matter. I was born and reared in the South...never lived anywhere else. My wife says she's never met anyone who is more of a "Southern Gentleman". I only say that to indicate the commonality we share. And, in all candor, I could not be more proud of any moniker, so yes my apologies for bragging a little. Your pride in our heritage is noteworthy and commendable...but to trivialize it by attaching it so strongly to something so unimportant seems a bit sad. Save the indignation for issues of right and wrong....decency or perversion..cowardice or valor...dishonesty or integrity. Those things my young friend, are what embodies the reputation of Southerners in the hearts of intelligent and compassionate people all over the world. Why care about what the rest of mankind thinks?
Hey man, thanks alot...you too, screwtheman. I'll pass it on to my buds who helped with the silliness as well. I'm in the process of****embling all the pics now...like most projects, it's taken quite a few years of on and off attention and Myrtle Beach was it's first time out. I gotta scan the chassis build shots then I'll post some pics if anybody's interested. Thanks again for the kind words!
Thanks Will, can't wait to see the good stuff. wah wah wah, this place is about Traditional Hot Rods and Customs, not rat rods, not dumpsters, not mustangs. If you post anything else here you will catch*****. If you don't like them then why are you here? It's that easy. It's not about breaking new ground, it's about tradition, which is what was done before.
Didn't you see all the other good stuff (120 pics) in the link in the first post?? If not here it is again http://s396.photobucket.com/albums/pp49/iamq_bucket/Myrtle Beach 10/
Yeah I saw all the billet********* and big wheels. There are maybe a handful of HAMB friendly cars in those pics mixed with a bunch of*****. Don't be offended by it. I went back and counted, about 14-15, so more than a handful.
I'm not from N.C. Nor am I happy to be here, but I can appreciate what some people here are doing with there cars and what hotdamn says makes a lot of sense, now this is as ZMAN says a TRADITIONAL forum for hot rods and customs and these piles of***** that I run into from time to time here on the HAMB annoy the heck out of me, Geez. Come on people why don't you get it??? I tell you what NEW people of the HAMB, here are a few steps to tell you if you belong in this world of ours called the HAMB. 1. Look at the guy who created this place, look at his profile, now tell me does your "RAT ROD" fit into this category? If not, get lost, there are plenty of other forums for your taste.
What, y'all didn't hear about that Rumpke roll-off breaking all kinds of records at Bonneville? Looked like a good show. I know personally, having grown up in TX and lived in NC, that there is some incredible talent down south. The shows are laid back and the people are the best in the world. Charlotte GG is pretty much always a must and it showcases diversity and quality. I'm sure Myrtle Beach is the same. That being said, here in IN, although the rebel flag is everywhere it seems (for what I'm not completely sure), not much accomplished in the south warrants much merit. Same in PA, lived there for a while and experienced the same.
There's a few that are more friendly to the HAMB, now there are things about them that people will****** about, but they are more along the lines of what we're about here. There are a few in your pics that really just need some decent wheels. Or some billet doodads gone.
I love it when Zman gets out front on one of these threads. Thanks for TRYING to keep the HAMB banner flying. I'll tell you one thing though.............some people will just never get it and for some reason a fair share of them find their way here. As for getting attention..................how about dropping your pants and jacking off..................guaranteed to get attention and a young stud ought to be able to perfom about every 3-4 hours............and no dumpster will be harmed in the process. Frank
Thanks, when I get my present 58 done I hope it fits in this category... it definitely will be non billet.. here's my first one....
I work my**** off to make sure my car is safe because it is Driven. I will not be critical of anyone's work unless I see something that is not safe. At that point I see a possibility of someone being injured. I would appreciate it if someone saw a potential problem that I missed. Drive and have fun.
Funny, I never mentioned being threatened. And for the record I could care less what other folks want to build, they have the freedom to do as they wish as I do. But, as a born and bred southern man with a full set of natural teeth, I do take pride in what I build and do not like it to be****ociated with dumpsters and rat rods. That's why I choose to spend my time on this forum with people that feel as I do, and I feel the masses will agree.
I sure do Shawn!!! Don't worry dude, you guys will rise again....and show everybody that the South Has Style and taste!!!!
No apology required.. everyone is entitled to their opinion, we all don't like the same music, girls or cars.. it makes the world go round.. I like to hear other peoples opinions.. pushing a few*****ons is also fun, I just hope at the end of the day we can all share a beer......
This thread is dumb... BTW, IAMQ and anyone else that is my big-wheeled 60 Impala that you posted pictures of with the big wheels. I love it and don't care if you don't! I don't own cars that mkae everyone happy, I don't care. I have had them all, traditional and not... Just so happens this is my current ride. I don't need anyone's approval, neither does the dumpster dude. If we all built the same damn 32's or model A's the car worl would be very boring... BYW, I bought that billet wheeled Impala from another HAMBer, so there are more people on here who like a little bit of everything than most people realize... Something made you stop and take a picture of my car though, good or bad! Why waste film on something ya don't like right? Have a good one.
