Get it dont let it go to the crusher. The HAMB is a taditional rod site yes, but with a little bit of grey area. Is there not threads on the following, stock cars, sprint cars, shops, houses, car trailers, mini bikes, old signs, etc. give him a brake its cool and alot of members like and want to see them.
First, the rot is so bad in this poor Divco the only way to move it would be a scoop at a time with a front loader. Second, I was hoping the spanker was maybe female.... So.....I don't see any reason to go back. Divcos in much better condition aren't very hard to find.
What? I have seen alot of cars on here in a whole hell of a lot worse condition than this truck and you guys are saying it is not worth saving when if it was more traditional you guys would be begging him to get it. Divcos are cool and if I found one i could afford I would sure get it. Get it if you can, keep it for a shed if you must, but get it off the ground. If you don't build it I am sure you will find someone who will.
Save it. I have saved 3 of 'em so far. I have loved them since I was a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s. Yep, they were traditional back then when cars and trucks were the REAL traditional. I know this cuz I was there. Eastern milk trucks = major rust. Mine are all westcoast delivery trucks and have rust but fairly minor. You can still find them but they are getting very hard to find. I paid $3000 for 3 trucks. One is complete and very restorable and the other 2 are rod material (too many missing original parts). Most panels can be made using flat sheet metal stock.
If you get it and it's too far gone to save (and therefore may be parted out) I need some hood and front sheetmetal parts. Steve
The guy said right in the first paragraph... I suppose you have a problem with the enormous COE thread too? But I understand your point, how could you possibly be expected to find any valuable "strictly traditional" hotrod info on this site. You obviously didn't take the time to read, so what are you so peeved about? You lost 30 seconds of your precious time looking at a photo, then wasted 30 more posting about it. .
Screw em if they don't think it belongs here. I've tried buying that thing and the owner is a stroke. Can't give you a price, can't close a deal. I gave up. Hope you get it.
Sorry! Here is more of that non street rod crap. Another, not worthy Hamb traditional vehicle. I for one have not built my non street rod crap, with a check book! You appear to be an elitist, I'm just saying!
Save it! I think Divco's are real cool. Whether they be hot rodded, custom, or just plain restoration. Someone needs to post a few pics of Littleman's. That thing is badass!!
Thanks for all the positive feedback. I was a little hesitant starting this thread. Glad that most of you guys are into Divcos. These things were all over the place when I was growin' up. The rust isn't THAT horrible, I have seen much worse brought back to life. I really think this truck could be built "low buck", been doing it for years. Got my own junkyard, I know how to weld, and I'm not scared of rust.
I love the post where a guy from halfway across the country somehow has been able to inspect under this thing to know what shape the frame is in. Most of the bottom of those things are pretty flat, it could be rotted up to the beltline and a lobotomized chimpanzee should still be able to make patch panels for a lot of it. There's one of those local but the guy won't sell it, in better shape. That one I'd think about cutting a 1-ton van down to the floor and using that under it, just to save me some work building a floor and so on. Or pick up an older ambulance cheap and use that, one here in the junkyard with all of 70,000 miles on it, I'm sure there's more like that to be had.
Would that be a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery ? Hope you get the Divco , post some pics on the project and welcome aboard The HAMB ! Don't let Curbspeed bust ya Balls ! What a buzz killer ! LOL
Being different is where its at!! Vintage steel is vintage steel. Maybe it needs a 32 grill shell to please everyone??? Screw the rest build it and have fun,why be boring and normal
Excuse me? Did you say something? Didn't know milk wasn't traditional. Tell people that cows haven't been around since the days of model A's,and Model A's didn't get used as milk delivery trucks back in the late 20's/early 30's. So if it was a Model A that used to be a milk truck, you wouldn't have a problem? Glad you don't post too much,it really hurts my head when you type.
Typical, someone posts a few pictures of a really impressive build and no one even comments. Seems they may be jealous. That is a very nice looking milk truck project and looks like some first rate craftsmanship going into it. Nice pictures and good looking shop.
Best way to buy that is show up with a rollback and whatever cash you feel it's worth, wave it in his face and tell him it's gone today, ask him how many other of his offers will actually show up with the money and haul it home.
Thanks, that ought to get it. The truck is on a site where they just demoed the house. I kinda think it needs to disappear.
