Good to see another Pontiac on the road. If you have to go modern at least as you note, it is a Pontiac.

Not enough mid 50's Pontiac's the way it is.

  2. I have not been very visible here on the board for quite some time. I can understand the more recent members not knowing much about me or the car. Bottom line: It's a driver. I've driven it tens of thousands of miles and will continue to do so.

As with any car, if you drive it, eventually something will break. Getting a Jetaway transmission fixed in Peoria is not going to happen. Ask me how I know. Wheel bearings, brake shoes... Pep Boys don't stock them for this Pontiac. Back in the days before the internet and online catalogs, you had Hemmings and the NSRA Fellowpages. (I'm on the wrong side of 49th street for the NSRA) Necessity dictated that the drive train becomes user friendly.

Until very recently, the aftermarket options for a 57 Pontiac were non existent. No engine swap kits. No transmission swap cross members. No brake conversions. This is not a 57 Chevy by a long measure. It ain’t easy doing this with a Pontiac, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This car is a driver, and I drive it. That’s just what I do.

Bill, glad to see your Pontiac is back on the road! Thank you again for giving me the old Jetaway trans out of your car. We used a lot of it's parts in my 56 Olds trans. Nice to see you back on the Hamb also!! Al from Maryland

  4. I was thinking about that Jetaway the other day, Al. I was still wondering if there was anything useful to you in that thing. Keep in mind, if you drop it off a pier... it will make the nicest rainbows for a while ;) .

Post me a picture of your car. This way I'll recognise you out on the road. Good to hear from you!

Bill, here is a picture of my son Dave taking his girlfriend to the prom last year in the Olds. I treat that transmission like it's resting on eggshells!! That is one heavy, bulky mother that I don't plan on repairing again!

Hey, I remember this car! Glad to see it back on the road. It's a real handsome beast.

  8. Thanx, Nads! One of these days you'll see it up close. I'll throw you the keys

Yes, yes, yes and yes. It would be worth coming out there and doing a couple weeks of wet sanding in the garage with you, Frank and Dino. That's sounds like a great vacation at Blind Fish Lake!!! :) Sh*t, I can't imagine what this would look like with a genuine Spritz by Fritz. Think of the possibilities

  10. I can't believe I had leftovers. They didn't go to waste, though. Maybe I'll take Suit's advice and get closer to the bands this time. Gotta love them dirty water dogs. Start working up an appe***e now. The dogs will be there!

Set up next to the Vagabond's and the brats, we'll have a food row... and a helluva good time.

  12. Sounds like the start of a good plan. I'm in.
