the 3" shift fork sold on e-bay is a casting, the shift fork made by Ford is a FORGING. big difference.

Here is a screwball idea of mine. I have measured it all out and the 3" fork needs to move back 1/4" from the small fork. That is the width of the forks so it need to be aginst the back of the small fork. I think it is practical to clamp the 3" fork from a side shift trans to the back of the small fork and weld it up. Cut the small fork off after welding. All parts are forged steel so no worries welding. Anybody game. Must be better than cast. And cheep.

    Andy,
I have all the parts to do this I will take a look at it tomorrow. Does it need to be welded to the front or back of the fork?

It goes on the back of the fork. Towards the center of the cover. Just get the forks even side to side and flush on the ends and that should be perfect.
