I'v noticed recently that there are quite a few user names that have something to do with the desert in them and come from Socal area. I was just curiose to know how many H.A.M.B.ers were from the Antelope Valley area. Satin and me tried several times to get some kinda H.A.M.B. get together, together at Pomona Sswap meet but never got anywhere even though there are other H.A.M.B.eres down there selling with us. Weve met alot of H.A.M.B.ers down there including DJango's long distance visit. Cool guy. Anyway my rambling brings me to this. If there are enough Guys here in the Antelope Valley area that would be interested in having a H.A.M.B. get together this would be the time to start planning. I just want to get a show of hands from the Antelope Valley and this doesnt exclude all Socal, the more the marrier. [IMG] I'm just thinking way ahead of the curve. Thanks "Hip" [IMG]

My wife and I are from the AV but I live in Denver now. We visit Palmdale/Lancaster every once in awhile (like right now).

Well, I'm actually FROM there. Live in Lakewood now. I moved away in 1965 and that old valley sure has changed. We used to street race on Ave N. It was like American Grafitti. Probably a big *** housing tract now. But when you said all the guys from So Cal, I might turn up if you have a dealie. Although I think El mirage is such an obvious place to do it. But I guess I really need to go because I owe Ray (desteratrodder) a bowl of chili.

I'm close but not totally in Antelope Valley. If you decide that you are gonna do a get together then let me know and I'll make it! Merry Christmas!

I grew up there. Lived in Palmdale, Pearblossom, Quartz Hill, and Lancaster. Joined the USN in '63, retired and moved back in '85, left for Oregon in '87, wound up in Texas in '92. The Antelope Valley isn't the same anymore. Too bad.

I just found out that Chili Phil and I used to hang out together in Pearblossom/Littlerock in '59, eighth grade. We were into models then. Does "The Court Jester" ring a familiar tone? Interested in a set of '56 Buick hubcaps?

  10. Prime,
you musta got into one of the boxes of liquor filled chocolates today.
Theres a few of us up here, at least a dozen, probably up to 20 if you count Santa Clarita area. Even more within a 1hour drive.
The ones of us who can get together do it when we can, whether its El Mirage, Doc Frankenstiens, Moldy's Rat Fink, Wheeltramps gigs, Pomona....and so on. Everyones always invited.
The events I've gone to have all been cool, and I've made new friends with similar interests at all of them. I'd say some of these events are not for the timid...getting out of hand is allowed.
We should do something again soon.

I was Born on Lancaster Blvd in 1949, moved to Irvine CA in 92.
We had a quarter mile marked off on 40th street W between ave K
and ave L back in the late 60's.
Mom still lives there so I was there for Christmas, I see that they are
building houses on 60th W, in the 60's I would come off the hill at ave M
and have the Hot Rod over 120mph going through ave L on 60th st W.
The good old days are gone.

I thought you were from East LA, originally. I seem to remember some kakhi pants, plaid shirts, and lots of butchwax. Then again I might be senile.

Speakin' about flatheadin;, do you remember Richard Slater? He was the flatty guy back in '62 -'64 in the AV. Just another greasy haired goofer about our age. Ran wiith Steve Sharp and me. Yeah, my folks moved me to the AV to get me out of trouble in East LA. I found it in Littlerock anyway.

I know pigpen from junior high and highschool daze. Haven't talked to each other until this post on the HAMB. Thge HAMB makes the world small, doesn't it?

I knew Steve Sharp in highschool but I don't remember Slater. I went in the USN in Aug. '63 so I missed some of the flatheadin' that was going on. Missed most of that hippie **** that came soon after also. Too busy riding the Kitty Hawk back and forth to Nam and fixin' F4's. I agree. The H.A.M.B makes the world much smaller and warps time like a worm hole. Fortyfive years ago seems like yesterday.

Still gettin' the same kicks since '46! pigpen

I'm close. Saugus. But, I've been a loser lately and not showing up when I said I would. Hard to fit in when you don't drink and hard to find time having 2 kids and a wife. It's all a matter of timing. Let me when?
