Grew up reading Street Rodder & Hot Rod, still subscribing to HRM (and really dig they're new format, hope they stay with it) as well as Rod & Custom.
I love R&C for the love of old cars, customs and trad rides, and Hot Rod brings out the total gearhead in me. Both are written well and have good layout. Purple passed along an ish of CK Deluxe and plan on gettin' more of them.

  3. Just got the autographed copy of SPEED& Chrome Illustrated....
Real good articles written by 2 or 3 of our own Hambers.[Robin-Ben and Craig]
A good lookin Mag with some cool features- I'd have to [IMG] vote for it!!

Yea, the "Taschen" books are very cool. We get the catalog and it is kinda un-mainstream. I saw that book that other day, but the wife and I make a deal to not buy anything for ourselves til' after Xmas. Hmmm, looks like a book is wrapped under the tree.

Thanks for starting this thread, Cab; I was actually planning on asking people the same thing.
My delivery came from The HotRod Company (thanks again for the speedy service, guys!). I bought:
Wizz-Great mag, completely my style- wish it came out more often [IMG]
CK Deluxe-good mag thought it was a good mix of style/tech/chicks-I'm subbing
Rolls and Pleats- I'm sorry local mag writers, you should take some notes from these guys. Informative articles without typos. C'mon, guys- English isn't even their first language [IMG]
Garage- Sorry, but I found it as scenester as OSR
OSR-It's crap, but it's the only thing newstands stock-
AGAIN, local mag guys take notes [IMG] I'm in Austin,TX-the fact that I can't get national mags really pisses me off. I shouldn't have to request it from the bookseller.
Speed and Chrome-You can check my opinion in the HAMB Drags thread.
-I read these mags for the same reason I'm on the HAMB-info,history, AND MORE INFO! [IMG]

OSR Sucks shit. They feature MAYBE one worthy car per issue!! Nothing beats the 3 kings of the hill: CkDeluxe, Garage and Kustoms Illustrated!!

P.S a little insider info: there is a new magazine coming out soon that is going to blow everyone away...

Is there anyway to get this "Icons" book besides the website mentioned above?
Thanks for all the opinions on all the Mags and books guys:)
can't believe this thread is still going again...someone must have revived it!

  8. I have a subscription to R&C. There is always some crap in there that doesn't thrill me but i just don't read what I'm not thrilled with. Overall pretty good book. I'll have to see what goes now that the Riz is gone. But I'll probably stay with them unless they become a rich man's car craft type of rag.
A lot of magazines that I don't read, but there is no reason to slam 'em. I just don't read 'em, and I'm sure that they don't really care.

I love pictures almost more than words

    we need more good reading,

    at this rate,

in the future communication will be reduced a series of images flashed across a screen..

    I love the future,

    I love the past,

now is ok too. I love now best.

    Merry Hollidays!

    This is an easy one...

I like The Rodders Journal just because its the best. Great photography and writing.

Rolls and Pleats for all the reasons stated above by everyone else.

Magnetto, just because its cool and East Coast

Speed and Chrome because Lance is an alright dude and hes headed in the right direction.

Dice, because its from England and its always cool to see what other countries are doing in the way of cars.

Kustoms Illustrated, because Luke rules and hes doing a mag on customs AND because hes East Coast. Plus he bribes me with T-shirts and stickers.

Wrench, used to be cool but Keith is being a pussy.

Car Kulture Deluxe...well, I'm biased about them so my opinion doesn't mean anything.

    I think thats it.

Oh... I like Garage and Barracuda, and Juxtapose and Varla.

PS- My son is a skater and he thinks its cool that CAB is on here. He brags to all his skater buds at the local skate shop. [IMG]

i think this board blows away any book or magazine for show coverage and tech articles..

cool cars, square roll bars is a good east coast book. (well as good as anything "east coast" could be)

also cab- i just saw an old episode of sk8 tv a little while back. that show ruled.
