We didnt get alot done this winter but the snow started clearing so we finally got the car up to bosses shop and started working on her again. So far the 51 has a 50's chevy pickup front axle with the 51's 5 lug hubs that we converted to s-10 4x4 discs and metric calipers. We modified speedways metric caliper brackets for a 9 inch rear to fit the pickup spindles. It now has a 455 olds with homemade fenderwell headers th-400 and a 9 inch rear. We are planning to make a 2x4 intake for the 455 but need to drive it and make sure the engine is worth a ****. The old girl sure the hell isnt a show car never will but i dont think we have much over 500 bucks in her yet if even that. Yes i know it isnt clean and no it isnt done there are still alot of mockup parts and unfinished welds but it isnt going to hit the highway until i feel it is safe. Later, Mike here are some pics hopefully
Here are some more updates on the old girl. Tonight we got the throttle hooked up and also got the steering column completely hooked up we used a 61 impala steering column and the steering box off of a 65 chevy half ton so we could have cross steering. I also scored a cal custom hood scoop it was on my brothers jeep and he didnt want it all i have to do is fill the hole in the hood where it was at. The scoop was pretty nasty lots of layers of paint and some oxidization but lots of hours cleaning later it is almost ready to polish. Thats all for today hopefully tomorrow we will be making all the brake lines all the stuff is here just lots of bending wish me luck. later mike
g***ers from hell!!!!!!!!!!!...........keep them alive!!!!!!.......that girl is bad***!!....dont change nuttin............ARCO AREA 51 KUSTOMS ****SVILLE CALIFORNIA
Thanks for the compliments yall i just hope the 455 turns out as good as it sounds its out of a 72 toronado sounds straight wicked made my marine friend jump the first time he heard it fire up that moment was worth everything so far. later mike
We got a hell of a lot accomplished this weekend no pics yet was dark when we finished. First thing we did was ran the lines on the back axle and forward then ran everything from the calipers up to the mastercylinder i wish it was as easy and quick as it was typing it. With help from the HAMB i mounted the battery in the p*** rear corner and ran the 2ga wire to the front. I love this place i had a question and had the answer like that as soon as i have spare cash i will be a paying member. Thanks all hopefully will have some pics tomorrow. later mike
I got my moons today they are dented and nasty but only 20 bucks so im not *****n. We will hopefully get the gas tank in this weekend and start the wiring maybe even the flip front. later mike
That is a very cool ride and the bonus is that you are doing it on the cheap. It will be a bad*** car when you are done.
She moves under her own power!!!!!!!!!! Shes been sittin at our farm for 43 years and we got her movin hell yeah. I only did a small burn out in the shop then backed her out to hook her up to the truck but she moves hell yeah sorry excited. I got a free posi 3.55 pumpkin today a farmer brought in a 350 power unit today and wanted work done on it at the end he also said he cant turn it around very easy so i tried cant hardly turn the cart side to side but moves easy forward and back so i told him id fix it. Im thinkin my 51 has a 9 inch that aint posi so i swapped them out tonight both big bearing 28 splines what luck so my burn out was with both tires instead of one. Sorry just so excited stuff is falling together might be able to drive around town this weekend. Lots more stuff to make right but it still moves. later mike
