Traffic light viewer

    Ok all I have a 54 Chevy with a visor so I bought a traffic light viewer. Where do I mount it? Does anyone have any pics of theirs?

    I had one of the plastic stick on ones. I picked a traffic light on a quiet Sunday afternoon, sat at the light moving the thing around till it worked best then stuck it on.

    most are on a ball and socket like a rear view mirror, so they are very adjustable. I have mine off to the left of center of the wheel so it doesn't obstruct my already limited view, or flash unwanted reflections in my eyes.

    Mines on a ball like a rear view mirror. Do you drill hole n the top of your dash or the front of the dash?? When I tried it out it seemed to need to be on the front of the dash.

    I mounted mine on the garnish moulding using one of the screw holes from the factory.

    Your best bet is to pull up to your garage, like you were standing at a signal. Temporarily mount it so you can move it around to see if you can see the gutter clearly. Then take a ride and check with a real signal.

    Mine works great, right in front of my sight line. The swivels let you fine tune the position.-MIKE:cool:

    The factory ones in the 50s were usually mounted as close to the gl*** as possible so that you can stop right at the crosswalk. The closer you mount it to you, on the dashboard, the more you defeat it's purpose by making the overhang even longer. Don't waste time with a suction cup model...they ****.:D

    I am kicking this old topic because I thought it would be useless to make a new topic.

    I have been searching about traffic light viewers and their history and read they were added at dealers if wanted. The famous Guide traffic light viewer, I read, was a common GM add-on. So how about Mopars? I have a 1949 Chrysler and a 1950 DeSoto. Would it be misplaced to put a Guide in it, and if so, which brand or type did Mopar use (if they even used one)?
