oh yes. I didn't even see your avatar. it is amazing. I love the silver metal flake on the chrome. it is great. I will have to hunt you down and take some pics for the company Blog. I am thinking that we need to add a best traditional award on the blog and you need to win the first award!

8 dollars to park and 17 to get in. not a show for me. i stopped going a few years ago. got tired of seeing the same old trailered in cars.

  7. Well I failed on that task miserably.

But one I really wanted to take:
Swap meet area. Guys got a BBF sitting on some wood blocks. Interested party asks if it runs. kid grabs a battery and a couple friends. This could get interesting, as I back away but move around for a better sight. Couldn;t think of anything that could go right with this scene :)

Guy on each side of the engine - hand holding it in place on the blocks as the gas gets dumped in the carb. Shorts the starter and be damned if it didn't start! Then the kid starts goosing the linkage. It was all the two guys could do to hold it from torquing off the little blocks. One of the funniest things I saw.
    End of story.

I agree, this will be my last Good Guys event. Parking was a nightmare, the staff was rude, and the line to get tix and in took 35 minutes!

The crowd was nuts! not the friendliest crowd either, the rolling stereos got a little bit annoying, rather VERY annoying! Not worth the 1.5 hr drive for the swap meet, nobody wanted to make deals on anything, I made good cash offers and they all turned their noses at me, WTF is that about!

sad, really... but I am done with the Good Guys.

Yeah $8 to park, $17 to get in, and 25% of the cars are new stock Challengers, Mustangs and other crapwagons that aren't 1/2 as nice as the cars in the parking lot! What DON'T they allow in that show??? Keep your child hide and go seek doll leaning against a glass 34 3w with 24 inch wheels, I'm done!

I missed it due to a few broken ribs. I would have needed one of those old lady electric chairs to get around in. I bet I have only missed 2 or 3 Pleasanton Goodguys in the last 20-whatever years they have been there.

$23.00 for a swap meet is a bit high, but they throw in a show I really have no interest in attending also so I guess that makes it better:confused:

Seriously one of the best weekends (weather wise) in years! The crybabies will cry no matter what. There was LOTS of good stuff there.

So you're upset that the show had exactly what was advertised? The August show is only through '72. The Get-Togethers (anything American or American powered of any year) are unique to Pleasanton and Orange County.

I'm not being a dick at all, but a lot of people make the same point. Goodguys events are BIG all-encompassing happenings. Some guys want just a swap, some want just the show, some just go for the short skirts and boobs in the sunshine. Unfortunately you can't really separate them and charge different amounts. It's kind of like going to Disneyland and saying that you don't want to pay full price because you don't go on the kid's rides. It just doesn't work that way.

The reality is that BIG events just aren't for some people. I can totally dig that.

Funny! I'd say a high estimate of the number of trailered cars would be 50-60, and that's more rigs than trailer parking will hold. 50-60 out of 2500 seems like a pretty insignificant number to me.

Price? Well, everyone has a different sense of what's fair or expensive. Either way you see it is OK.

you used to be able to just go to the swap and car corral, then there was another gate to go to the show. must have been before your time.

I go to every one I can, only sickness, pouring rain or broken bones keep me away. then I come here and whine about too many late models in the show and how much it costs to park and get in.

when is the next one? I need to mark my calander:rolleyes:

  21. I got to Pleasanton for the first time last summer on my bucket tour and it is a great show and a beautiful and clean town. The cost is almost as much as a regular movie and I would be there in a second if I didn't live across the country. Life is too short to be whining all the time. Looks like I will make it out there again this year in August for Monterey weekend and will stay a week to catch Pleasanton, as I have a photo shoot in San Francisco.

That was before I worked there, but I remember it. I asked about that a few years ago and they rolled their eyes and said it was a nightmare trying to keep them separated.

  23. Here's a thought, enter your car/truck in the show and won't have to pay for parking!!

Support GoodGuy's, they support our hobby!

Exactly right. And you know, I haven't been to a movie lately, but what does one of those things cost?

Was the parking staff rude? We have had a couple other complaints about them from this past weekend. Please let me know, because they are fairgrounds staff not Goodguys staff. We are forwarding these complaints to the fairgrounds.

went mainly for swap early Sat. as stated, was the best weather for this event. found a couple of wheel spacers I needed at a cheapo price so, worth the 2 hour round trip. ya, it does suck that you have to pay for two days, if you are only going for one if you enter your car. but, it is a hell of a big challenge to put on an event like this. the GG do this all over the country, but never easy or cheap for them. at their events the best people working hard to help all of us out are the volunteers inside the fairgrounds from the local Host Car Clubs. during the busy season for shows/swaps I have to decide which one to hit. but, in the quiet time of year I will always hit P-Town.
