so i really try to exhaust all my resources before i come here, and i have looked for awhile online and on the phone for this damned radiator and can't find one. thought maybe a buick or olds may cross over, but the entire 1960 BOP radiator search has me going crazy. thought maybe a caddy radiator would work, or maybe an impala but don't want to drop any cash until i know it'll fit. any help would be great, i don't want to be another guy with an aluminum radiator with dual electric pullers...

  2. Do you still have the old rad? A good rad shop can re-core it for you for about the same price as a new one. As for Impala/buick/olds, as long as the length and width are the same and the inlet/outlet are in the same place, the worst case scenario would be that you have to drill a couple new holes to mount, no big deal. Good luck!

Yeah, you can usually get them re-cored for under $300.

Also, it should be the same as the same year Chevy Impala / Biscayne / Bel Air.

the exsisting radiator looks like it's a two core get up out of a chevy II. it's way too small for that 389. i run into overheating issues pulling long hills, and after looking the cooling system over i noticed the radiator know has some angle iron holding it in. whoever had it before me dropped this radiator into place. flat land cruising it runs fine, but there ain't alot of that terrain here in colorado.

If you have it recored the rad-shop can up it to a 3 or 4 core.

1960 Pontiacs aren't that rare, you should be able to find another radiator someplace. One place to try is http://www.pontiacheaven.org/ in Arizona; Steve is a member here and he has the largest Pontiac salvage yard there is.

If you want to go new, U.S. Radiator can sell you an exact fit replacement, the only visual difference will be it won't have 'Harrison' stamped on the top tank. I have one of their 'triple-flow' radiators in my '61 Bonneville and it works great.
