Do any of you have model cars from the late 40's to early 60's? Back before the 3 in 1 kits all we had were models with metal ch***is and with friction motors. Most of the time they didn't have interiors and most of them had only plastic windows. These here are ones from my youth (tires and wheels on the '58 Ford are new!). The '52 Ford had a remote controlled motor and has metal grille and bumpers, the '55 Dodge has an interior out of a '60 Chrysler along with the wheels & tires, has a metal grille and bumpers, the '58 Chevy is a 4 door stocker I think from a Tonka car carrier with four models on it.
I've been dragging my feet on this thing for awhile now. (I know, I know...it's not a car) Please feel free to poke around my blog for build pictures. Just search "Shovel"...if you want.
Working hard on that one, sir. The only project car I currently have is too new (1968) for my taste, but I'm chasing a '51 Chevy Styleline Spl, and may have it this week.
The front rims are from an AMT '60 Corvette kit, I thinks it's like a 7 'n 1 kit so there's tons of kool bits to raid.
I remember the models like that. PMC use to make those, when I was little, moma would get you one of those becauce they were cheaper than regular models. The ones I saw came in a blister pack and use to turn me on becauce they were fairly accurate and you got the one off body styles like 4-doors and wagons, trucks. I think they were really promo cars all gutted out for the kiddies. They go pretty high on E-Bay, especially Vettes. I still got a 4-dr. 59 Ford wagon like that. Damn, I love that 58 Ford!
I'm still trying to find someone who has one of my "Race?"resin kits I can buy to make new molds.I should have saved one!
OH man I love 43 scale, is that a kit, if so could you tell me what one? Or pieced together from a parts stash? Doc
Good morning, I still haven't figured out how to start this thread each week. Do you need to be a moderator, or something? Just curious! I have a few new race cars this week, if ya'll don't mind. The first is a sixties Offy powered sprint car built and back dated from a Gratnt King kit: Next is an OOB 64 Ford Galaxie, curbside, built to resemble an old 60s-70s NASCAR Permatex Sportsman Another retired GN car, 60 Ford Starliner:
^Louis, when I saw the pic of the modified, I thought the same thing! Mind you, the space where that picture was taken is currently occupied by a 1:1 '51 Chevy, now.
Pretty cool! Great looking builds this week, fellas! Kudos to all! Would still like to know how to start this thread off each Sunday, or why I can't! Thanks in advance! Slim
you just need to be the first one to post a new thread with the ***le "sunday model thread". This is the thread from last week but everyone just added to it for this week.
some great stuff once again. i havent done much latly so heres an oldie. another 32 from a collection of about 15. i got far to many 32 roadsters. lol.
This is my first submission to the modeling group on here. Here it is..1965 Chevrolet Truck. Its not as nice as some of the models you guys build but it satisfied me. I left the rear bumper off because it looked retarted and is going to need some mods done to it.
Hey guys, I realize this is not a plastic kit, but this is an all aluminum roadster body that I bought on ebay, a one of a kind. I installed a cox 049 nitro burning engine in it, with a geared rear end. It's about a foot long. I think it looks pretty cool. Hope you like it as well.
Oh OK, I was just wondering, thought maybe only admin could kick it off, no biggie, thanks for repyling!
