    Hey guys - who's making patch panles for the 1958-9 Full-size Mercs? Anyone?

    I tried cl***icsheetmetal.com = Ford 1950s-60s.
    ====
    Floor patch / toe panel / maybe might need a dogleg (4-dr) / lower front fender.

    that kind of spots.
    ====
    Is there more than one, one being the "okay", one better?

    I learned with 1949-52 Chevy cars, there's more than one, but there's a difference!

    ...or are we gonna have to find/cut stuff off of rust-free AZ junkyard cars? (Not close to us!).

    THANKS.

    I just bet you're on your own with late 50s Mercs - popular enough in their day, but not much support now. Anyone with any tooling is making **** for Fords or the more ubiquitous Chev/BOP, even Caddy. By yourself some shrinkers and stretchers (gee sounds like a description of my first five minutes in the morning) and 'go to school' on similar gauge tin - heck, you could start a cottage industry all your own.

    Best of luck to you - I've always had a soft spot for those big things - my dad (mr conservative) wound up buying a 58 Park Lane 2dr post from some neighbor that was broke or something. Turned out to have possibly been a WSP (Wa St Patrol) pursuit car - 430 V8 with a special speedo (some verbiage on it about being calibrated) and a weird push****on auto at left side of dash with a large ****on labeled "high performance range" or some such thing. All black with B&W interior. Everybody in the family loved the car - except Dad - who paid the gas bills. Don't recall whatever happened to it, as I wasn't really around much when he acquired it. Very straight is what I recall.

    sorry to hijack your thread - but your inquiry had no responses and I felt bad for it...so figured maybe comments would move it back into range of more knowledgeable folks' eyeballs.

    There is a guy on forwardlook.net that goes by the name of "Big M", he's a Mercury guy. Don't know if he will have any NOS but he has a California junkyard full of '50's cars. Great guy to deal with. Very fair and does what he says he is going to do.
    Good luck.

    Call Joel @ Mercuryland 308-946-2564 if it is out there he knows where it is at. He will probably have some good used parts also.

  6. I suspect anything out there on those is going to be period aftermarket, you might be just as well off making the parts you need.

    I got a 57 Merc 4 door Commuter wagon. The Floor pans and toe boards for a 57-58 ford work on it. Can't help with outside stuff though. LOVE the hardtop wagons !!!

    Just saw this thread-

    I do have a lot of good solid sheetmetal for '58 Mercs, no patch panels, but solid originals.

    My telephone number is [530] 473-2225

    Thanks - no late 1950s Merc-specific, though, eh?

    Knew of some Ford ones...:
    Surplus Supply...covers up past 1958, but Ford...don't know which ones were the "same", and which "would work" only.

    == http://www.surplussupplyco.com/catalog.htm

    Guess I need to get Ford and Merc. parts books and interchange info. from the right year, then shop for new Ford parts where they are the same?

    That's how I learned the right info on early Chevy-to-Pontiac.
    Everyone thinks they're "the same" but only some panels are.

    Q=1958 Ford-to-Merc...anyone know?
    Really only need to know front floor, toe board, inner rocker.

    In Google I found some Ford metal mfrs. I did not know about. Maybe pulling some together weill help someone. I only knew of Surplus and EMS. I have always heard EMS panels were better, too.

    Slight detour, but still on basic topic - here we go:

    Early T-Bird and 1950s-60s Fords:

    Looks like these guys also make their own, for 1949-51, at least:

    let me chime in, there are 2 types of 57/58 merc small body and large body.

    now the small body merc is based on the 57/58 ford failane 500, floors and inerior sheet metal is the same, and we have it, outer sheetmetal gets a little more confusing, some is the same, some is totally different, and some can be used depending on how rusty your car is. we do not have any printed info on this topic, you can call us at 216-541-4585 and we can help you. it will not be a easy conversation as we need to go over each part and ask many questions on your car,

    hope this helps ems customer service 216-541-4585 www.emsautomotive.com
