I found some issues of Hot Rod from 1954 in some old boxes at my house last nite. I think these are more worthwhile than the new Hot Rod deluxe, etc...mags. Best part is I know a local place to find more!

I enjoy the Ol' Skool Rodz mag but I don't care for the Custom Kulture one, It's focus is on what to wear and music. I would love to get my hands on some of those old mags.

Of course they are more worthwhile. Sheesh, the parts are so much cheaper in the old mags.

i recently got into collecting 50's hot rod mags. one really big distinguished between the old ones and the new ones is the details of the car.

    example...
new mag: this is a fine 50 ford custom blah blah from huntington beach, blah blah bob norris owns it, ahs had it 12 years. always wanted to paint it red but its yellow yackitty yack....

old mag: this is a 50 ford. has 36 chevy tail lights molded in, 56 olds headlights. 1958 chevy 289 v8 with anson pistons. 10:1 compression, isky cam #245. Offenhouser intake with dual 4 barrel carters.

    you get the idea :D

Sports coats and ties are traditional! Check out the apparel on guys and gals at car shows in the fifties, especially at the Sunday night trophy presentations. Compare those pix to the ones in the current "kulture" books.

I knew there was a reason I kept and packed those boxes of 50's and 60's car magazines all these years. What goes around, comes around?
