Do J like it? I was resistant to replacing the starter with lights. Maybe by the time this "drifts down" to the g***er cl***es I'll be dead.
Speaking of g***er cl***es any input on the G***er magazine reunion coming up in July at Summit?

I can't say I like it, there is too much to watch. I bet seeing it in person is cool though and sound must be unreal.

Kind of fits in the same category as jet cars and rockets. It's fast, loud, and interesting, but (to my sensiblities, at least) not quite drag racing.

On the other hand, if they can use four lanes to make qualifying and sportsman eliminations run more expeditiously (two races at a time), there is some real potential to make the sport better.

It's different, but I prefer two at a time. Kind of like boxing, adding another couple fighters just makes it chaos in my opinion.

If you look closely at the aerial shots, the stands are far from full...about 3/4 full on Lane 1 side and way less than 1/2 on Lane 4 side....should tell ya something about NHRA pro racing...

I watched the first round of Top Fuel and turned it off. It may not be the dumbest idea in drag racing, but it's close.

You miss a lot trying to see what four cars are doing.

I hope they never do it again.

Bruton announced yesterday that he is revamping his track in Vegas so they can run four wide there as well.

I watched enough to see a trackside interview with the track owner, apparently 4 wide drags are comming to Vegas soon too. Seems a bit too promotional for me.

I like it, makes it more challenging, compe***ive, and more interesting to watch.

  23. Umm...I'd have to see this in more of a "heads-up" format before I'm too certain!

    Kind of wimpy.
For real fun, try a 1000 bikes lined up side by side and at the gun all heading for the first turn a mile away which is only 100 feet wide.

  25. That will eliminate dumping for a team mate!!!

I did not like it. Like Wilkerson said it is a "novelty" and I hope that is all it is. Please do not screw up the Vegas track.

In fact I thought so much so that I turned it off and went out to my shop to work on my racecar.

It should remain as an Exhibition Event, not a National Event. The only real benefit to 4-wide, is you have an extra pair of lanes should there be a m***ive oildown, or damage to the track.
4-Wide means down to 3 rounds on Sunday with more TV Commercial Time. From how empty the stands were, it didn't look like much of a Ticket Success even with all the HYPE of how EXCITING the racing would be. It was almost like a 3 Ring Circus where you didn't know what to focus on. The TV Camera work was proof of that. They had to pull back so far. It looked like they were 1/64 Scale Die-Cast Cars running out there.
How many more things will the NHRA change to ruin the sport that for the past 60 plus years has been the Greatest Motorsport on the planet ?
It should be 2 compe***ors, side by side running a 1/4 mile at a time, running 4 rounds on Sunday to determine a Cl*** Winner. You shouldn't mess with the tradition that got you here,

  30. Won't ever be the same...
