PM Aeroman or post on his site over at chevybombs.com. I used those "Chicken Trippers" on my ride in the '70s but couldn't hear if they s****ed the curve over the loud music.
They were popular in the late 40s and early 50s. My dad had them on his 48 and 50 Buicks. As I recall they had pretty much disappeared by 1955.
Always noticed curb feelers on cars growing up in the 50s-60s. They were pretty much gone by 1966 when I graduated from high school in Fayetteville NC.
I had them on my lowrider in the late 80`s. They rubbed on the ground more than curbs. HOW could you not here them, It`s amasing how much noise they made, somehow gravel roads played hell on them, couldn`t keep them on.
I ran them up into the 70's. I'll buy them if I see them at a yard/garage sale just to have them. They sure did save your Port-A-Walls from being ripped to shreds.
Keep the opinions coming!! We appreciate the advice..... Can't remember the last time I saw a car using them here around NE Ohio.
I've seen old folks around here w/them on there cars up until atleast the '90's. Mind you they weren't driving customs, just huge honking battle ship sized '70s luxury sedans.
Now THAT'S Funny.... Yeah,I have a set on my 'bird. They have saved me a couple of times...they were an NOS set I found on e-bay. I think I paid less than $10 for them.
The last pair I remember seeing on a car was a few years ago on a bright yellow Firebird. Yes you read that right, I said a Firebird. It was a late 70's model that was jacked up in the rear with wide tires and chrome mudflaps. Honestly I like them on some cars, but that was not the right car!
