I enjoy stuff like this.Don`t watch much in the way of Shows about cars on TV I find it is all about the drama and not about the people and the cars.
your exactly right most network guys do not get it. I have had several meetings with people from various networks and had no luck. That is why we are syndicating the TV show on our own. Its better this way because I will obtain total control of the series. I am excited to be doing this show and I know people will enjoy to watch it.
here is another short video with Ron Stetter. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TmhHFq1AqJ4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TmhHFq1AqJ4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
As long as there isn't any drama (yelling & screaming idiots) I think it will do fine. I will look for it on a channel near me soon. Maybe HD theator could fill its was been slot with this.
Wow! I might have to figure out how my TV works again. This is the kind of show that I like to watch. Best of luck with it and I hope you succeed. Look forward to catching it if I can. Hopefully it will be on a SF Bay Area station or cable.
Sounds and looks like a cool show! Drama sells. For most of the general public it's more interesting to watch some idiot screaming than it is to watch "normal" people. TV shows are about keeping people interested so that they stay watching that show so they stay to watch the commercials which sells TV spots and keeps the show alive. If I want to watch "normal" people I can just go to the mall, if I want to watch "normal" people working on cars I can go into my garage or a few of my friends garage's. It's very simple really. Whether traditional rodder's like it or not rat rod's are generally liked by the general public more than the killer traditional hot rod, a trend that appear's to be dieing (sp?) . I've seen many rat rods sell for more money than nicer hot rods of similar years and models. The history channel's description of a rat rod is a vehicle that is made up of parts from several different vehicles which sounds to me like nearly every hot rod on the planet. I personaly try to not get stuck on the little things and try to see the bigger picture, you know the little things like the term rat rod. Good luck Brian 03
That 32 has been in primer from day one some of the purists around here would call that a rat rod as well. Good luck will watch out for it if it gets to Canada.
There's a difference to primed cars that are still being worked on or just not into shiny paint and shit box death traps called rat rods. That man's car is a 100% hot rod. I'd love to see that car in shiny paint myself, but it's his car and if he can build and keep s car like that for that long, I have no business not agreeing with him. But I do agree, please keep the rat rod crap out of the show. Or better yet, help explain to people what the difference between a real traditional hot rod is and a rat rod. Now that is show I could get into.
The black truck does not look like a shit box death trap to me. Keep the show showing all kinds of rods and let the open minded rodders and viewers draw there own conclusion with no prejudice.
Anyone in Florida that has a car they might want on the TV show, please send me a PM. I am still looking for other cars for the show. Thanks Brian
The Show is not only cars in Florida. But right now for the next few months we are shooting in Florida so I wanted to try and find a few more good candidates for the show.
If you don't want to wait for a good hot rod show, you can watch ours. Warning thread hijack alert. SORRY TKWHEELS.COM Well, it isn't the Discovery Channel or Speed, but it is what it is. I am in the middle of building our site to showcase all 76+ episodes. All local WI and Midwest stuff. I have the original 13 online and the next 5 are uploading tonight. Hope to have all of them up by July. We have filmed and edited four episodes already this year and will have one new one per month from here on out. Budget of nothing and no commercial backing makes it a real show with real people.
Awww...Dang! I was hopin' you'd hire that pantload "Duane" from the old Coddington abomination! And hey...there's always "Chop, Cut, and Waste a Half Hour"! Seriously, it looks like a terrific show! Best of luck!
Good luck! tired of those stupid dramaties with phony deadlines! just give me a good entertaining show! Hope to see it here ib Chitown!
Well, I'd definitely watch it. Now, if I only knew where to find it? And you may have already picked up on this, but steer clear of anything "rat rod".
Keep the show about 'Rods'. That will confuse the masses and then people might actually have to think for themselves and decide what the cars are Unless it's called 'Lemming Rods' then that's ok.
just put a new link to the YouTube channel for the TV show up. There are more videos up and more to come very soon. http://www.youtube.com/user/AmericanRodandCustom?feature=mhw4 I want to know from all you guys, what Famous car guys (builders, Racers exc,) would you want to see on this show. and don't say Chip Foose
I guess I'd like to know what cable channel has picked it up, and when to watch for it. Nice youtube vids, but when/where is it gonna show, or online only?
Why do they have to be famous...I get a bigger kick outta the guys like Ron Stedder that may have only built a few cars, but go way back and have real stories to tell.
Technically, good stuff. That's a plus, but unless you are a salesman and a dealmaker, you won't make it. Independent with total control? You will never have total control and survive, unless you are very, very, rich. Ask Howard Hughes. No sponsors, No chance, but sponsors need butts in the seats to provide bucks. You say no drama, but your trailers are all drama. Tough guys and men with eye makeup? How many times will people watch guys on motorcycles up on one wheel. Market, young or old, pick one because you will never please both. You have chosen a tough path. I spent 30 days on the road this summer from Louisville, Bonneville, Italian Concours, Monterey auctions, Pebble Beach, Laguna Seca, Goodguys Pleasanton and then home. You should have had your camera on board. It could have rode free, and you would have had some great footage for content. Good Luck with your venture. I hope this helps.
Brian, I and many others on this thread have asked where will this air? Have you sold it to a network or is it in pilot form or made for just Youtube. Why the secrecy????
I like it, hope there is enough of a market to keep it alive. Short of actually getting to meet these people, having them share their story in a show like this is cool. When you make it out here to So Cal you will get some great stories here too. I am sure the same can be said for other parts too.
