Just picked up the new Horse and Ol skool rodz while returneing a cook book I got for christmas. WTF? if it's not pop tarts I can't cook it. Anyway, in the reader's letters part of ol skool there's a little plywood woody rpu that I actually kinda dig. Anyone else like it? I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. It's like some mangy mutt that's so damn ugly he's kinda cute. Maybe it's all the eggnog.

I look at that and I envision something I built when I was 9 years old, the only difference is I used wagon wheels...

I'd rather see a bunch of mis-matched rusty pieces of metal wired together, on the other hand you cant get any more "traditional" than good ol' wood.

I like the concept and think it looks kind of cool. It would be better if it wasn't so "square" though.

I just thumbed thru it at the store....Seems the go out of their way to find complete pieces of **** to do a feature on. I'm becoming unimpressed very quickly.

Also don't send suggestions to help their content/layout. They get really *****y. I was just trying to help!

Check out the 'wing' on the black Plymouth? coupe. I can't remember what page but it's different.

Also do they only know a few builders/people? It's the same guys every month.

Instead of *****in and whining about the content every time that mag comes out DONT BUY IT. Or why not submit some articles and pics of your own cars or a buddies. I agree some of the feature cars leave alot to desire, but what the hell. As far as that crate goes if the owner thinks its cool and is happy with it good for him.

    I didn't.

It just seems they look for the more ratty cars to take a picture of I've been to alot of the shows that they do coverage on and there are cars at the shows that are much better that they could take a picture of. ( I'm not talking finished cars or 30,000 car just more thought out home built cars ).

What about the green one with the bondo'ed close p***enger door where they left the hinges. It's got really "nice" welds all over the dash, like he wanted it to look as badly done as possible. That I don't get. The woody I think is a pretty cool way to make a car out of almost nothing.

I'm with Greezy...don't ***** about it...fix it. I have owned two (very small) indie newspapers and I don't think you guys understand how hard it is to come up with content and the time and expense it takes to put something like that together. I met the owners a couple weeks ago and let's face it...they are a really cool down to earth couple. They aren't rich...they aren't glamorous...they are a very nice husband and wife team. I don't kno whow many of you own your own business but would you pay to fly someone across the country to cover a car show? I can't afford to drive across the state let alone pay someone to go do something I would love to do myself!
Cut them some slack...how about dropping them an e-mail and telling them that you would happy to help them out by covering your club or a local car show? Don't ***** about it ****in' fix it!

The execution may not be my cup of tea, but it sure looks to insperational for a channeled, fenderless low buck woody wagon. Build real short, chopped, low on a Z'd frame, two doors with a cloth top that folds back, Citreon 2CV style. make the top fold forward so the thing can be used as a truck, too.
Damn, now I have another friggin' rod idea bouncin' around in my head. I'm gonna have to get out to the shop and make something now.

No that would be the one in R&C. I think if you don't have steel ... I'm sure someone won't like it but as the saying goes, there thousands of other hot rods out there to look at if you don't like mine. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Oh yea this one isn't mine. And I'm not absolutly sure if I like it. But at least the kids buildin' somethin'.

Back in '82 when they introduced "Big ***ed Black Mamas" magazine the naysayers said the same things.

"Didja see the cellulite on Towanda's behind?"
"Good God, Tylonella's ***s are drooping almost to her waist!!!"
And now that mag's got a circulation of 600,000 issues every other month.

    Quit being so critical.

I hope y'all like "Camping With Midgets" it's a little mag I'm putting out next year.
