I got a fradulent registration ticket in GA for having my plate louvered.

DMV made me get another plate, then I got another ticket for the same thing, from the same cop, for having the new tag pinstriped.

You're not gonna have a problem with that. Do it and be sure to post a picture so we can admire your finished handiwork.

You'll probably be fine geeman. FWIW, I would have no apprehension about doing the same thing here in IL. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

  4. Here in Texas it's against the law to modify (including restore) a plate in any way. So don't tell them you restored it. I am restoring my YOMs and I took them in since I was doing other stuff there at the time to ask them about it and she saw the one that was painted black that I hadn't lettered yet, and started to say "you can't do that..." when I managed to change the subject.

It's all up to how good a job you can do. The pictures in the reference book they have look like they've been photocopied a dozen times, so it's not as if they even know what they're supposed to look like anyway.

As for bending, and filling it, I'd take them for approval before you do that and then go ahead and not look back.

You'll have to wait until that number frees up. Basically, no.

Would you happen to know the amount of the fine? Might want to chance it someday?

I've posted this before. The car is a Zipper lakester registered as a homebuilt in 2000. Had the 1927 plates painted to match the car then I ordered vanity plates to match the numbers on the '27 plate. I put the stickers on the plate and drive it all the time. i do keep the correct vanity plate in the car just in case.
