I just picked up another `52 Ford F-1 PICKUP. The body is decent. There is no motor or transmission. The ch***is has seen better days a long time ago. I would like to take this body and put it on another ch***is. Some people say a F-150 OR `94 , `95 Ford Explorer all with V-8 engines. Has anyone done anything like this lately and if you have what did you use . Thanks Fordpk52
How bad is the original ch***is? My '51 F-1 came out the woods with a snowplow on the front and a hoist in the back. Needless to say, the frame was twisted in more directions than I could count. That being said, I still think it was easier to straighten the ch***is and install a Mustang II than it would have been to try and accomplish an entire ch***is swap. Most people severly underestimate the amount of work it takes to pull off a ch***is swap and get the finished product looking correct. I have seen way to many basturdized ch***is swaps that look terrible and negatively effect the resale value. Just my $0.02, I wish you best of luck on your project.
Hi The ch***is layed on the ground all these years and the ch***is has all rot holes in it and the steel is to thin to weld too. One section where the ch***is goes over the rear axel there nothing there. You can put a screw driver through it that's how rotted it is
That definetly ****s. I wish I could recommend a specific ch***is, but I don't know of one that would make a simple swap. Keep your eyes open for a decent '48-'52 parts truck, the cl***ifieds may help. Good luck.
Thanks....I even sent an email to Chip Foose to see if he has any idea's...don't know if he'll reply but I put it out there anyway Have a good one
i know ill catch hell for this, but look for an 85-92 s10 pickup. 2wd and long bed. they are great donors to start on and easy to put a v8 in
