  3. After watching this transformation I'm dizzy. Don't think I'll be getting my junker 38 Chebby delivery done that fast. Too many other irons in the flames. But if someone wants to photo shop something for me, cool, Gotta be totally qustom.

Mikey that 38 of yours is an awesome find. It can be an cool build to have fun with.
This is what I got done today:
This is the front clip I got last week.
    [IMG] [IMG][IMG]

Then I got started on ****oning up my forward chop.
I started off by quartering the roof frame. [IMG]
Then I moved that section in place.[IMG]
Since the post doesn't line up due to the cut.[IMG]
I split the door frame and opened it to fit. [IMG]
Then I welded it in. [IMG] Just trying to give a factory look.
Then I cleaned up my weld.[IMG]
[IMG] and checked the door for fit.
Tomorrow the Drivers side. This is a bit time consuming.

The top door frame was rotted out on the p*** side when I got the panel. So I cut out the bad metal and I made new to replace it.
The top door frame took some time to get right.[IMG] Drawn out.
    First piece in place [IMG]
Then the second and third piece.[IMG] I took a measurement at p***. door. then I measured the drivers side.[IMG] So far so good. 12'' both sides. This is coming along real nice. alot of grinding tomorrow. I will post pics of my progress.

Today I got the Drivers side almost done. My daughter Amy is helping me so it was time for her to learn to weld. [IMG]
    A little hemet adjustment.[IMG]
Had to help just a little on controling the gun.[IMG]
After that she was in to it![IMG]
    Looked like the clampets.[IMG]
But the line up is awesome.[IMG] I will post more pics as I progress.

Sorry I haven't post new pics, this flu has kicked my ****. I did manage to get something done. I bought this cluster for $30.00 at the the swap meet.[IMG]

And the dude said it was from 40's era Ford. It was actually made by AC Spark plug Co. in Flint Mich. by GMC. but it didn't matter, I knew what I could do with it.

So apart it came and I gave it a new look. [IMG] I like it better now.
I will be continuing the rear chop and section hopfully tomorrow if Im feeling better.

Thats real clever dad. Teaching the kiddo to weld.....when it just so happens you have 4 billion hours of ****oning up to do. I can't call it child labor, because Amy is 26....but you can call me having DJ sanding until his arms fell of child labor, haha. ahhh...the convenience of children.

I don't know if that will happen or not Jeff, this stupid flu bug has really set me back on finishing the chop. I feel perty good today, so I will probly finish my rear crossbracing and get the back down 4''. Those rims are American Racing that needs cleaned up.There was some great deals at the swap meet. Id like to see some pics of your 55 if you get a chance. I did one back around late 70's. I built a 327 and ran a muncie 4spd. It had a straight axle. Looked and ran mean as **** but steered like a log wagon even with new king pins.

Son I bet those pics brought back some good memories when me and you worked on projects in the garage. Still have a pic of you sanding that LT1 scoop I made and you sitting on the hood of that 60 Ford havin a blast with my electric sander. You were about 4 yrs old. Your sister is having a blast on this old panel. Good times never stop.

I made some great progress today, I started off with the 4'' mark to remove the back section of the panel[IMG] I went just below my rear windows to keep them full view.[IMG] Then I proceded to remove the top.
    [IMG][IMG]

Here is the top after removed and my damn welds gave way to the braces.
[IMG] Should'nt be a real problem, it kept its confomity, so going back will tell the story. Tomorrow I will take the remaining 4'' out and reposition the top.
I will post pics of my progress.

Thanks son...your wait is over. Here is a pic of the drivers side with roof on.
[IMG] I need to trim a little off the back p***. door and the p***. side will sit flush. My neighbor in pic has never seen any vehicle transformed before.[IMG]
And here is a photo the way she sits right now.[IMG]

The line up is beautiful and it is turning out awesome! After I weld the top in, I will procede to shorten the body. I will post pics of my progress.

Thanks son, the line up is amazing. I have to do a couple of contour cuts on the rear corners to have the proper slope, hopefully I can get it finished today. If you get bored, you can jump that 800 miles and help me throw the floor in! :D

Thanks Steve! My wife and I bought a place in Ohio, so I need to get this as far long as possible. We are moving there in June. But today she gave me a honey do list. No biggie, I will work on the panel tomorrow.
I will also keep a look out for you a good door for your 32, which side you needing?
I am having a really good time on this build, Thanks for hooking me up!
That William dude must be a real POS kinda guy to screw you over on those parts! I can't stand people like that. Dan

I am almost done with the p***enger side welds. So I turned the Panel around so when I finish the Drivers side and rear doors, It will be in place to remove 10'' from the length of the body. Here are some profile pics as I was turning it around.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
[IMG][IMG] The last pic is after my contour cuts and welds. I will post more pics as I progress.

  30. just a thought
wouldn't it have been a better idea to shorten the body first so you wouldnt have to fill the old window holes after eveything on the sides was already welded?
    just a thought
