A good friend has just imported a 2 door 58 Chev Biscayne. Satin black with chrome wheels and white walls. White tuck and roll. We are going to metalflake the roof and would like to paint some scallops on the rest of it. Anyone got any pics of a scalloped 58 for inspiration/ideas.
YEP, Alfster! This is the one to take your inspiration from: Light and Dark, well defined, contrasting colours yet the two complement each other, rather than clash like some of the other ones submitted. Note the colour choice of the sublte but definite pinstripping that keeps the two main colours from "bleeding" out of focus. This one´s a beauty!
In my opinion if he is set on doing them i would say keep them simple & subtle cause the lines on a 58 a sooo sleek as is you can easily take away from the appearence of the car by making it look to busy...There are some great examples here..
I agree 567 percent. Look how busy the "light blue/w. red/white" and "darkblue/w. light blue" and "black/silver/pink" are: TOO MUCH TOO MANY COLOURS and WRONG COLOUR CHOICE. I think the first one (white and gold) would be perfect if it had better colour pinstripping. Something deep: Black or dark brown.
Ya the swedish dude with the "colours" is right, most of those cars are too busy and are more about the paint than the car. My favorite one is te white and gold
Here is the design we went with. Taking bits from a few different pictures. Painted a couple of days ago. Haven't had time to get back to it. Should be all happening again in a couple of days. Will post some pics later of the finished car.
What the finished car looks like. Just back from the Beach Hop. First day at the event it was photographed for a magazine feature.
Nice - good colour contrasts. I think you may have inspired me to put some on my 60's Merc (Mercedes that is, unfortunately not a Mercury). Beach Hop always has nice cars there, you guys seem to have a much more relaxed view on car mods than Oz (lucky bastards). Drew in Oz
Not exactly what you were looking for but it does have some scallops. This is one of my dads last paint jobs before he passed. I like the mix of flames and scallops if done well. Good luck!
you bastard, I thought I was the only one in NZ with those speaker grills! Car looks great, seen it at Beach Hop and Blow Out. Grill black out looks good too.
