Maby a little ot but i know that there are some serius knowlegs here, right? Have this 383 csb with around 450-475 hp in there, and looking around the net for a timing curve. Have know 12-34° whitout va***. Q.do i need ported va*** or full va***? Msd says ported and some outher says full. Please help.
i ran full ported va***n on my 327 long duration cam 292 ,and added lighter weights in the distributor along with springs and timed my car with a va***n guage ,Just rotate the distributor till you get the highest reading and then back it off 1 psi .This may not be the correct way to do it ,But it ran awesome ,,,,, I have no timing tab on this motor ,And aftermarkets are off ...
carcrazyjonh thanks i herd about that trick" erlier to day mayby thats the way to set timing! But ported or not is the q. full ported?are there a other way? Sunyside there are no or little diff ford to chevy
I used full ported ,Didnt run well half ported .My one buddy swears by blocking off the advance ,But I dont agree with him.....
When you rev the motor va***n port will have va***n ,At idle nothing .Full ported will run advaced all the time ,What carb are you running ,If its a holley I can tell you which one ,An easy way to tell is with a va***n guage ...Manifold va***n is full ported ll and everthing above the ****erflies is half ported va***n
