    Maby a little ot but i know that there are some serius knowlegs here,right?
    Have this 383 csb with around 450-475 hp in there,and looking around the net for a timing curve.
    Have know 12-34° whitout va***.
    Q.do i need ported va*** or full va***?
    Msd says ported and some outher says full.
    Please help.

    Might get a response if you say SBC as in small block Chevy.

    i ran full ported va***n on my 327 long duration cam 292 ,and added lighter weights in the distributor along with springs and timed my car with a va***n guage ,Just rotate the distributor till you get the highest reading and then back it off 1 psi .This may not be the correct way to do it ,But it ran awesome ,,,,, I have no timing tab on this motor ,And aftermarkets are off ...

    carcrazyjonh thanks i herd about that trick" erlier to day mayby thats the way to set timing!
    But ported or not is the q.
    full ported?are there a other way?

    Sunyside there are no or little diff ford to chevy

    I used full ported ,Didnt run well half ported .My one buddy swears by blocking off the advance ,But I dont agree with him.....

    When you rev the motor va***n port will have va***n ,At idle nothing .Full ported will run advaced all the time ,What carb are you running ,If its a holley I can tell you which one ,An easy way to tell is with a va***n guage ...Manifold va***n is full ported ll and everthing above the ****erflies is half ported va***n

    /\ What he said. Usually the port you want is on the baseplate of carb.
