After spending hours here looking at "The history of Los Angeles" thread and "Vintage hots of days gone by"... I'd really love to see some Austin or Texas drag racing and street scenes of yesteryear. If you know the location and approximate date of your pics, please let us know.

Unfortunately I don't have any personal photos or family pics based in Texas, but to keep this thread from being pointless, I was able to find a couple on the web... though not many. I'm looking forward to possibly seeing some familiar landmarks.

    A bump with a pic.

I-35 construction at 6th street. Those pillars on the right is the overp*** parking area where the derelicts and vagrants intimidate college kids into watching their cars while they're away from them for cash lol...

I really like history of Los Angeles thread and hope this thread takes off. I would love to see some images of places I've actually been to. I tried with the history of Dallas thread but it didn't go too far. Wish I had some photos to contribute but I don't
    Good luck.

G.M. Steak house. used to be across from Capitol Chevy on South Lamar and corner of west 5th. Sitting there you could check out all the Impalas and other chevys from the window in the 60s.

Yeah, that's too bad. I bet she's got some good ones. I'm in the same boat as everyone else... no scanner. I'm looking into purchasing one very soon though. I've got some great photos from my grandfather's and friend's racing days. Some really good photos of the Kurtis Kraft they raced back in the early 50's.

When they widened Ben White they bulldozed that entire stretch -Ivy Trail RIP-. The only thing I could see still standing is the roof of Dan's Hamburgers, which is now on the frontage road at Manchaca. Here it is circled in red.

What's that in the lower right of the pic in post #2? I see big ol' chrome dual pipes sticking out under the back bumper and the rear end looks very low.
