so i finally got a kick ass deal on a set of comp cams ($430 set in the box, for $70!!!) chevy solid rollers to drop in the 324 olds. my question is, since the lifters have an oiling hole that feeds the oil to the push rod should this be plugged some how?? i know that the olds does not oil the rockers via the push rod so is it ok to just leave the hole open or does it need to be plugged some how? Also, if anyone needs a set of staggered solid lifter tie bars (396/454) and has a set of flat ones they would like to trade, let me know!
You do need to plug the side oil hole, DON_WOW the rocket guru answered this question for me yesterday. Nice deal on the lifters man!
thanks!!! yea im really stoked, other than the tie bar being wrong 396/454 lifters fit into the 56 and back Olds V8's as well, i think they are the same as SBC's just the BBC's are staggered where as the small blocks are all in line (?).. i know that they push rods are a hair to long now with these lifters but luckily with the money i saved on performance lifters i can paying the 80 or so clams for a set of custom push rods!
I bought 350 olds tie bars for mine as the lifter bore spacing is about the same. Comp, I believe is what I bought.
