So who all has pics of 29 or similar woody's. Just got a really nice cowl and I'm looking for some inspiration and ideas. Post em up guys.
i see from your other thread you have the cowl and door posts from a `29 closed cab pickup. i believe that is what was used on woodies. i took this picture of an original one at Wavecrest a few years ago....you can see that it appears to have pickup door posts and visor
love me a model a woody... full fendered, steelies and black walls... nice hot rod rake... this would be a great starting point: years ago i started a '29 dodge woody. realized that while i have the carpentry skills to build cabinets, staircases and do finish work... the woody was in another realm.
I'm pretty open right now to anything. I don't really want it stock looking though and probably no fenders. Gonna hafta have a little chop, nothing to radical. Still in the planning stage but I'd like to see what idea's are out there and what people are doing.
^ that i like.... a lot. lowburban: do you have any specialty wood suppliers near ya? I'd imagine maybe in Houston at the worst case... the wood place here (mr. plywood) has some very nice marine grade plywoods, and damn near every other kind of wood you could imagine... and often have blems/cut-offs/etc that can be had WAY cheaper than a full sheet/length. I've gathered some marine mahogany and other stuff that'll one day (if i ever get the time and hankerin' for splinters) be used for an A woody sedan. i'd love having a hot rod that was big enough to fit the wife and kids.
If you haven't done so yet check out this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5085574#post5085574 And now a couple of pics for inspiration. I have been thinking the same thing and grabing any and all Woodie pics I run across, well Model A Woodies anyways.
J.Royseth that's close to what I'm thinking but with out fenders. I like that one alot. TBone69 thanks for that link, those are great. DirtyWoody28 I've checked out your thread alot, very inspiring. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Wanna see some without fenders though, anybody?
would love to have a Model A woodie to build. For those who own or have owned a Woodie we have started a woodie social group on the HAMB. (just getting going).
I'm hesitant to show these at all. Been keeping it all pretty under wraps as it's in panic mode to get done for Santa Maria. Mine's all on the inside. The roof seams will be hidden. Can't thank Tim Conder and Barry Serota enough.
