I need some help with my 40 ford pickup. I took everything down to the frame, have had the flathead motor redone, installed a t-5 transmission, a 9 inch ford rearend, disc brakes in front, etc. the front end is a stock axle. I am at a loss as how to install shocks both front and rear. any help and pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Try Ch***is Engineering, 319-643-2645, they offer a bolt on front shock kit #AR-2037, comes complete with the shocks. Their rear shock kit is #AR-2038A for Ford rear ends. I have used their products, they fit and work well. www.ch***isengineeringinc.com
Here is how I mounted tube shocks on a 46 merc i'm building right now. I used F-1 shock mounts for the top. And the rear. For the back I would recommend mounting them lower on the frame rail. Now that the weight of the car is on the ch***is, they are just touching at the top. I actually just noticed this as I took the pictures for you haha.
any of those common shock mount studs will space the shock out from the frame 1/2"...but its not traditional
