Hey guys- I'm currently going to Wyotech in PA, and as you can guess, theres not many "ol schoolers" there. So if you got questions, ask away. I'm not going to BS you. Costing a lot of money to be there, so ask away. Chris
I go to Wyotech, the "hot rod" school. So if anyone is gonna be going, or if they are thinking about going and have questions, I thought maybe I could answer them. Thats all, just trying to help out.
'bang, your not 'legit' are you? Really the Rat Rod delete post, now this. You like girl's, don't ya?!
[ QUOTE ] 'bang, your not 'legit' are you? Really the Rat Rod delete post, now this. You like girl's, don't ya?! And why aren't I "legit". I'm back at school to hone my skills. As far as my back ground, I'm ford ***et certified, I've been a Flat Rate tech, and a CNC machinist. Both trades I was real good at, just not happy. If you read the post, you'd see I'm against the term Rat Rod, always have been. As for "legit", yeah, I am, oh, my rides: 65 comet (yeah breaks the pre 65 "rule") but 14 to 1 comp in a 289, with almost 600 inchs of lift, and a 60's drag look. My next project-61 Comet-FE, pie crusts, and flake paint. My 31 Sedan, gettin the chop and channel, the 53 Flattie is in the garage. If I had the money, a triumph Bobber would be in my shop.
Cshabang makes a good point....soooo did I miss something here or is he just not part of your clique? See that's an honest question....blast me if it makes you feel better. So Cshabang, other than a lack of Ol Schoolers, how's life at Wyotech going? Do you think it's money well spent? My son wants to go to Nashville Auto Diesel college and I'm not sure if I could afford that much less Wyotech.
Money well spent so far. Like I said, I have a mechanical and machinist background. I also do all my own fabrication work, and I'm 25 so I had a head start. We'll see how it pays off when I graduate. Thanks for asking
I thought about going to Wyotech with my GI Bill Money, but I think I'll just ruff it with local body and welding courses for credentials. The reason I say that is there really is no promise of jobs for all the money you spend. My brother in law went to the wyotech in wyoming, graduated at the top of his cl***, still doesn't know **** and does telemarketing for a living. Him and his best freind went there, his freind repairs lawnmowers weedeaters and stuff. What kind of job promises did you recive upon graduation?
No promises, and I'm not looking for any. I look at it like this. I'm gonna get out what I put in. I've been top of my cl*** too, thru collision, refinishing and Trim. I'm also a member of the National Honor society. To me, the grades and the professionalism rules don't mean much unless you want to work High end. I think it comes down to the person themselves, I'm 25, and shut down "real life" to go back to school, I think it was worth it for me, only you can figure that out for yourself. My next cl***es are ch***is fab, and I finish with street rod
Bang nailed it, but you do get out of it what you put into it. I recently graduated and im only 19, as well as my buddy whos 21. Neither of us had any previous paint, body work, metal fab, or welding experience before we went there, i just had mechanic skills before i went. So when i was there, i chopped my 65 panel 6" in 5 weeks. I can tig and mig without second guessing myself and they are damn good welds. I learned soo much its amazing, and i use it everyday. Then there are the kids who go and smoke and drink every night and barely graduate, they work at jiffy lube for the rest of their lives, when i start my own shop and kick boyds *** by the time im 25!!!
