Want to stripe the wagon since the body is just a flat gray primer. I'm just wondering if it's too much with the roof on it and if it is what would be some good alternatives? The car: The roof: What do you guys think?
ha! they're only on the p***. side and were on the car when I got it. just haven't had time to take them off but if you like them that much I'll mail em to ya....
Absolutely LOVE it!!! I think it looks amazing!!! Go for it and be sure to post the after picts because I would love to see how it turns out!
No thanks...I couldn't believe you had them on there and I didn't want to say something that would piss ya off....but I'm glad they'll be gone soon. Cool ride!
My question is why does anyone in his right mind stripe a primered car? Yeam I know I'll get beat up on that one but primer is just a stop along the path, not completion. That's a pretty slick long roof red wheels and all though.
No worries man, I honestly forget they're on there as I haven't driven it much since I got it. Had it 2 weeks, went to upholstery for 4 weeks, got it back on a Tuesday and that Thursday night found out I was headed out of town for 3 weeks for work so it's just sitting there right now and it ****s! I do need to find a driver door chrome visor like what ya see on the p***. side though...wasn't on the car when I got it and want to complete the set...
I think stipes will look good...it's a little to plain compared to the roof. Then I'd paint the wheels to match a color on the roof or the interior. I'd probably go with some of the gold color for the wheels...then some spider caps and at least lower the rear. I like the roof by the way. And the grey primer actually looks a little shiney. Did you clear it?
hey there is an O'Fallon in IL....my name is Fallon. Find me a street sign. Onto your question, go for it but please paint the red rims.....WAY overdone. pretty clean old car. not completely hamb friendly but it has its moments. I like your style. dare to be different. lower, bellflower, chrome steelies or something else but no red man...
Not really a traditional subject for customizing or hot rodding, because NO ONE in their "right mind" would have modified one of these things "back in the day" you've pretty much got carte blanche modifying it. However, just as Mr48Chev says "primer was just a stop along the way" with the goal being a finished paint job eventually, there are certain things that can be done that can be considered "traditional" to the time period of the sixties. Deep six the steel red wheels. After leveling the ride height and MINOR lowering, mount your narrow white wall tires on Astro spokes or chrome reverse with spinner caps (early 60s), Cragar Super Sports, polished A/R Coke bottles, or Keystones (late 60s, early 70s), then do a full lower body paint job to match the already completed top. Although metallic and metal flake paint dates back to the 50s, the paint tricks (fogged in panels, etc,) you've used weren't commonly done until the early 70s, but you'll end up with a really tasteful piece, reasonably faithful to the time period, whether the subject vehicle was traditional "back in the day" or not. Curb feelers (one per wheel) are optional.
Personnally, striping would clash with the top.....IMO. Fogged panles, or just light fogging along body lines in a color similar to top, would be better suited to go with the "theme" of the car.... And 14" Cragars.....
How about some skinny scallops to follow, or highlight, the shape of the wagon? OK, so it hasn't got much 'shape', but thin scallops around the edges of the panels would break up the flat landscape a bit
great ideas guys.....really diggin' the scallops idea. wheels are gone, decided that a long time ago. was thinking astros but what do you think? everything on the car is how I received it when buying it minus the redone interior so wasn't my bad taste that got it here, lol....
I agree with the idea that striping primer is a waste. If I could do it and had the time, I might but I'd be saving the funds if I couldn't (I can't) to have the rest of the car painted to match the absolutely killer roof. You did ask.
leave it alone ,,umless your gonna go all out and match teh roof perfectly..otherwise it will liike ,,half done ,,half thought
No striping, lowered, bellflower exhaust, chrome reverse with wide whites or astro supremes with skinny whites, done.
bellflower exhaust keeps popping up and I'm really surprised at that. I didn't consider this the type of car for it but I guess being a longroof it's got the length? and astros are happening....
