Ford Flathead 6 distributors

    Is there much advantage in running the first dual point crab distributor 1940-42 over the later 1942-47 single point crab distributor, i e is the extra 4 or 5 degrees of dwell worth bothering about. It seems the single point is readily available the dual point not so

    I would think there isn't much advantage unless you are running modifications to the engine such as bore, stroke, dual carbs or hotter cam.

    The dual point will give you more coil saturation, thus creating a hotter spark.
