Hey Guys, I finally think Spring has sprung in the Chicagoland area (Thank God!). I am looking to pull the doghouse and engine outta my 50 in about 2 weeks, anybody in the area feel like getting greasy?? I have plenty of knowledge, just haven't done anything this big for a LONG time. I have a garage and tools, looking to buy an engine hoist, tired of rentals. I was just wondering if anybody might be interested??? I got a big ole' grill and I will make sure that nobody goes home hungry or thirsty:cool:. Also just as important any good tips or tricks for making this swap go smoothly??? According to most folks this is about the easiest swap out there, but anything that sounds that easy never is!!! THANKS AGAIN!!! and if anybody is interested in helping out with the swap I will be pulling the motor April 17 or 18th, depending on what days I can get approved for vacation days. As always all the help is greatly appreciated!!!!

I don't live anywhere near ya but good luck. I did it with help from a good friend and it was not that hard. Many detailed 'before' photos can be a great help for the re***embly if you can't remember how something went.

Well I just found out that I did indeed get the whole weekend off, and I will be pulling the motor out April 17, and if anybody is interested please let me know. It's not that I NEED the help, just trying to get a few guys together, and too many would look like a bit of a cluster f&*k. Just wondering if anybody was interested????

Check your holes on the bell housing, you may have to put the one from the 216 on the 235 engine if I remember rightly

You might want to contact Patrick's about parts and interchangeability. Good luck with your project.

I'll be out of town, but definitely read up on interchangeability... inliners, chevytalk, stovebolt, patricks etc have good advice.

My wife pulled and replaced her 235 by herself, so worst case I'm sure you can do it yourself

my 49 chevy truck had a 216 originally, and now has a 235, with the same stock truck transmission. I know it's not exactly the same thing, but at least in my case, it was done without issue regarding the trans. good luck.
