    Hi,

My name is Tim, and altho` my first venture into American cars of this age, not my first left ******.
My first at aged 19 was a `74 Camaro. Not easy with very expensive Insurance and at a time when "Yanks" of any sort were frowned upon by everyone.
Anyway, over the years I (and long suffering wife) have gone thro` an ***ortment of different types, including a 12 stint with a very peachy `57 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire.
So now I have got my hands on a very complete and straight `31 Ford Coupe.
Would like to go the `basic` late 40`s look and keep the banger, get rid of the fenders and put on some steels and W/walls.
I am sure I will find all I need on here, so get ready for some questions
    Regards
    Tim:p

    Thanks

I think all "Brits" know what its like trying to find early tin here in the UK.

Hopefully, I will be able to work this on a smallish budget.

    Hello from North Norfolk
Let's see some pic's of your coupe.
Personally i'd stick to black wall tyres if you are going for a 40's look.

Well, having just had the chance to give the model A a good run this weekend, 2 things have struck me, and bear in mind my introduction.

First, I am getting a heavy, car-wide vibration from @ 30mph upto 50 odd, but haven`t had time to give it a once over, but may suspect an engine mount.

Second, its **** on fuel! My 6.1L `57 Olds` did almost double.

I wasn`t expecting 40 mpg, but was hoping for a bit more than 11!

So, would a good tune up help? I am not particularlay heavy footed

    Anybody got a simple answer?

Other than that, I am very pleased with my purchase, and this is very comparable with other cars of similar vintage I have driven, except with much more torque.

    Regards

    Tim:)
