Projects The "Keep on Truckin' " '34 Chevy Build

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by cactus1, Jun 16, 2009.

  1. I used my ****py bead roller. I am going to drill some access holes for the body mounts once I order some plugs.

  2. I started the engine this weekend and figured I should add it to this thread.
Almost ready for the one wheel peel!

Wow, you're really blazing man! Sounds pretty healthy, that's gotta be a great motivator.

  4. My goal is to drive it to the HAMB Drags this year...I think I can!, I think I can!...:)

  5. I am still working on the floors. Aargh!

Now I am going to try to make this out of aluminum instead of paper. I'll let you know how it goes.

Nice work! Did you use aluminum because you plan to leave it bare?

  15. Thanks B.E. I made it out of aluminum because the whole time I've been thinking about the piece, in my head it has been aluminum. I know that probably sounds dumb. I like the contrast with the wood , too. It will remain raw, at least for the time being.

    Thanks for looking!

  22. So, I yanked the floor and everything back out so i could put the clutch in and start figuring out my mechanical linkage. Easy right?

    It's kicking my ***!

Everything changed once the clutch was in. The bearing shaft is too long. The splines need to be extended... Sheesh!

I started cutting parts and mocking up a Z-bar and linkage. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck, would'ja?

Do you have your steering figured out yet...box,tie rods, links etc?

  25. The steering is done. All of the pieces are in place and work ( in my garage anyway :) )

I may have just disengaged my clutch too! Stoked!

  27. Cool Rob! I can't wait to see the new paint!

  28. I finalized the welding on the Z -bar and added some Zerks. I also dolled up my bracket a little. The linkage is a little convoluted, but it works!

I am trying to upload a video of it in action.
