I could not let this one slide by.

Feel free to make comments and offer opinions as to what I'll need to do or if you know anything about this car.

I've asked Kary to keep an eye out when he's taking photos tomorrow for anything that might identify it. The rear wheel wells seems to have been mildly "tubbed"?

I'm stoked. I don't care what condition it's in. I bought it for a price I can live with and I can't wait to get her running. I have two driveline choices Flathead V8 (8BA or 255 Merc) or Dual Quad Nailhead 425 4 speed muncie.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that was my car a couple of months ago...I have never heard that story. The top is shot. It is made of bondo and metal s****s that are pop riveted together. The car takes a really good picture but is really really rough. I was excited about it once too. I don't mean to be a **** but just want you to be prepared.

Cool, thanks for letting me know. Great thread, lots of info I was looking for.

So you sold it to Kary? He wasn't quite sure about any of it and said he'd check. I think it's just as cool as when you found it. What was it that finally made you say "enough"? There looks to be enough of the roof left to put another skin on. Tell me more. Like you said, I'll be more "prepared" for when I see it.

Glad it already has some H.A.M.B History though. Do you know anything about where it came from?

I bought it from a guy in Corpus Christi TX on a Model A ch***is...he didn't know anything about it. When I got to his house it was dark and I didn't really get a good look at it or I would have driven back home 10 hours empty handed. There are parts on the roof made of bondo...no metal just body filler. The roof will need to be replaced, there is no floor, subrails or rockers. Even the best body panels have spots that are rusted through. The doors are pretty solid but you will need some pieces for the tops to make them solid they were not welded back after the chop. I hope you havent paid for it yet...request some more pictures of the underneath of the roof...do it before you have it shipped to Austrailia.

    The 3 window is sold.

I own it (the 5 window) now so it is what it is. I'm sure a roof will pop up somewhere. I'll get more pics in the next few days so we'll see. Nothing's beyond repair. It can sit here until I find enough good panels to put it back together.

Donut, what makes you say it's a 33? That flap at the rear of the window hole opening makes it a 34...I think.

Cool. As long as you are happy is what matters. I was just irritated that you may have been misled to believe that it is more than it is. I was upfront and honest when I sold it, the guy knew that it had poor repairs. I agree that nothing is beyond repair but the cost of doing so can get to the point where you have to weigh some options. I wish you nothing but the best on your build and hope you keep us all updated on your progress.

It'll make a great project and I'm looking forward to pealing off that roof rubbish and doing exactly as you said with a new roof. I figured on a fair bit of firewall mods to get it to fit the old 425.

I wish it was here now. I've seen doors for sale and the rest can be bought at SARs. I wish I knew more about it though. More pics coming soon.

  14. No, that is an early 34 body. The doors are what is confusing them. 33's had front internal door handles, while 34's had the internal door handles in the middle of the door. The Early 34's had 33 inner door panels, and this is why the forward door handles. Also the hood latch is the teardrop in the cowl side.

    Good luck with your 34!

    Thanks for that,

I used to have a 34 2 window but it was a gl*** car and not hamb friendly but I enjoyed the roominess and look forward to getting this one on the road asap. There are so many amazing 34 coupes to use as an inspiration too. This is going to be fun and real work...not just ***embly.

From my time on earth I've been told and seen , 33 don't have a notch in the cowl for the hood to set in when it's open, as far as the doors go, on something this old they could have been changed at any time. To fix the doors ,if you find a 40 to 48 ford 2 door sedan, draw a line down the middle of the roof ,front to back then measure back 12 inches from the top of the windshield opening, draw a line across the roof 90 degrees to the first line, using the center of the roof as the bottom of the doors each
side will fit the door bottoms just about perfect. I was amazed at how good these pieces fid the doors. Also all 33,34 floor pans are the same,I put a 3 window on a 4 door floor and it even has the holes for the b pilar to locate in.If you can find a decent floor pan the coupe will become very far along almost over night.Good luck, this car is very fixable,if you know how to weld . 18. I'll be totally honest with you the very best thing in the world you can do with that is send it my way so I can build a highboy out of it and be the coolest MF on the block..

Don't know how deep you are in it but it is a nice looking body from where I sit.

Highboy is what it wants to be. The nail is a gfood choice for drive train.

Time and time again people in other countries are showing us up with taking on bodies like this and making something out of nothing. Good luck, I know the people who sold it will kick themselves in the a$$ when they see the end result.

Thanks and I really wish I was up to the task but I'm slightly embarr***ed to declare that I've decided that this is too much work for me (I really wish it wasn't) and I'm better off focussing on the 32 in my avatar so this "musical chairs" coupe is up for sale again (you know where to eFind it). If anyone wants to take this poor old coupe into their care PM me for bigger pics. Let's not let this car die.

Looks like no one wants it so I'm open to ideas (or trades?).

Maybe we could use it as a H.A.M.B. project car? I might be willing to donate it to someone who is capable of storing it and also having fellow H.A.M.B.sters come and work on it. We could turn it into something that everyone can enjoy. Once built maybe we can sell it and help someone with the proceeds. I'm a pretty lucky guy and the cost of purchasing it isn't a huge concern to me but I'm not going to drag it back to Australia and have it sit here for ages while I get the skills to fix it so I'm throwing it out there for ideas.

What can we do with this poor old coupe that will benefit everyone? Any ideas? If not, I will end up dragging it down here and probably make a drag coupe out of it based on my new 16x11 mags but I'd like to do something strange and different like offering it to "the H.A.M.B."

Hell, if you donate it, I'll build it. Just throwing that out there. 60's show car. Let's do it up!

If the top really is routed, then make it a roadster.

    Lot of people do it.

    Think about it?

  25. the roadter idea would be cool, check the one circle city did. if it was a 3 window, i might have been interested

It's still in Wheat Ridge, CO. Kary is really cool and says it can stay at his place until I find a new home for it.

Pin' do you have space and facilities there to have people come over and help work on it?

Making a roadster...interesting. Not a bad idea, will it look like a 34 roadster though? What I mean is will cuttin off the roof be all it needs? Not sure if a 3 window and a 5 window can make a roadster or just a 3 window.

I like the idea of building a race car that maybe we can all drive or win a driving lottery? It could be used at shows to take kids for a spin in? Or...I'm not sure but let's think this through. Share your ideas. If we can figure out a way that we can all enjoy it let's do it.

I like the idea of making a H.A.M.B. Community car. The H.A.M.B. has improved my life so much that I'd like to give something back in an unusual way. If everyone donates parts or time it will be fun and maybe we can use it to promote the H.A.M.B.?

    Just putting it out there.

It looks cool don't it? But it's a mess. If I'm going to give it away to the world I want to make sure we get the maximum enjoyment and the H.A.M.B. community really gets a buzz out it and it becomes the H.A.M.B. coupe. Painted in H.A.M.B. colours and with a huge H.A.M.B. stenciled down it's side.

Or, if anyone wants to buy it, I'll donate 10% straight to Ryan and we can be done with it. I just thought it would be kind of cool to do something as a community and it has to be cool so what better than a "broken" 34 coupe to do it with? If we all contribute something from our garages this could become a great idea.

Here's my idea. And no, I haven't had any beers yet. It would be like a club car. Everyone who wants on the HAMB can donate parts to the car. Any sort of financial donations would be accepted as well, and they would go to you or a trusted "financial caretaker" first to buy parts for the car. The parts would then be shipped to me, or whoever works on the car. There would be a build thread where suggestions would be taken and input and advice given, etc...

The car would be built within a year or two, and when finished, it would be driven to HAMB-friendly events and p***ed on. We could have a raffle to buy tickets to "win" the car for a year. Proceeds would go to the HAMB and to cover insurance. The "winner" would not own the car- you would 32ford5. When the time comes, we could either raffle the car with proceeds going to the HAMB or to an organization of your choice. That's as far as I've gotten on this.

You have some really, really good ideas!

Firstly, chopping the roof off is all it needs along with putting a roadster screen (lot of people don't though) on it.

Secondly, if you want to do a community/fun car, I think the best thing to do is bring it down to Adelaide and do something like that with it here to promote this hobby down here in comparison to the states where every 5th person has one. There are a lot of Hot Rodders down here that would happy to help, including myself.

It could make a cool fundraiser car, we could do like a disabled kids cruise etc etc.

Obviously with pinstriping over it with H.A.M.B and other sponsors etc.

    This could be really cool!

Again, I think it would be good doing it down here as it would be good to promote this wonderful hobby to many people who don't understand the real ethics and the friendship involved in this hobby.

    Note: Must be traditionally built.

    HC.
