first ride in 25 yrs

Well as some may know i bought my rpu back last fall and i'm going for a first ride in 25 years tommorrow night. OMG ...i won't sleep tonite. Got the saftey today and getting plates tommorrow. May have to skip out of work early. Getting the same feeling i had 30 years ago in it's maiden voyage.
I changed the wheels too...you like em? It's what i had on the rpu when i built it 30 years ago.

I knew where it was all these years. The last 5 yrs or so i'd do a pop in and see it. I'd ask how much, walk away because i didn't have the coin even at a great price he offered. One day i said to my self' 's#&T or get off the pot'. So i made arrangments.

Thanks everyone for sharing the excitment. I just came in from the garage givin er a little buff for tommorrows run. Feel like a kid.

OH MAN THAT FELT GOOD...... TOOK ME BACK 25 YEARS!!!!! freakin awesum. Within 2 blocks i felt right at home. Total confidence in the rod. Handled, drove great, like i owned it before. Picked up a fellow Hamber, a great friend and went for a boot. He took it for a boot to.We both froze our asses off but was a 'cool' freeze. Went and got the roof after a hot coffee for a little more comfort which helped big time. Overall a great great great evening. Need a hot shower to get rid of the chill.

 

WOW, is all I can say! What a night, I can only imagine how Ted feels, I had a blast! I cant imagine that he let me drive it!!! haha My wife went for a ride as well and she fell in love with it. We are very happy for Ted, the rpu is finally back home! Here are a few pics that I took.

ya that's the original paint i sprayed 30 years ago. Straight aclylic enamel' centari' no clear, just polished. Paint has gone sour from close up but looks pretty good considering.
