I have seen tapered roller bearing conversions for sell as a kit for 1956 chevy 1/2 ton trucks for sale. But I was wondering if any body had the seal and bearing part numbers. I'm trying to save one of the guys who works for me a few bucks. Thanks. Scott

For the disc brake conversion I'm running they were required. Should drastically improve your ride on the highway as well.

This car is staying 6 lug so it uses the stock hubs on the disc brake conversion we have.

He's not the only one wondering. I'd like to upgrade on the stock drums on my '55. I just can't see $110 to $135 on that stuff. 4 bearings and 2 seals should be at the most half that.

110 is a steal compared to what new balls cost IMHO

It seems like I should be able to go to the parts store with the bearing numbers and seal number and by the Tapered bearings for $80. or less.

Good luck on that.Cheap chinese bearings with terible quality controll but not top quality units that will last and work correctly.Just got done re-replacing some cheap junk on an ot project that didnt work out so well.

Somwhere I have the Timken numer written down for the outers but at the time I couldn't find a direct replacement for the inners...but, several bearing manfactures have measurements online, so you may want to get the calipers out and start checking.

IIRC the ones offered by the AM places, just a short number stamped in them, like 7A or similar...I never could find a crossreference for them.

small runs on these bearings because of low demand increases the price dramatically. your correct saying that they should be less money but....
