Interesting looking stuff,Might want to post it at www.garagejournal.com as that site is geared more towards tools and equipment.

I'm guessing that the band saw and drill press date at least to the 40's. The vice gizmo I haven't a clue but it looks to be from a era before that possibly something that was used by a blacksmith?

The Gizmo is a Stewart Handy Worker sold by Chicago Flexible Shaft Company-later to become Sunbeam. 1916 era. It is a vise, anvil, metal cutter, hand grinder, pipe clamp, and metal shaper all in one. The other two Craftman tools do indeed date from 1937.

the vise/anvil is a iron smith special. the crank/gear deal is for twisting pickets and what not. it's probly supposed to have so lathe esque chucks with it.

the drill press is very likely made by Atlas and is a very high quality small-shop tool

  9. THe band saw is older than the drill press. I have the same drill, made by Delta, from about early '60's

Sounds like your gadgetron was IDed already..

I have a setup for a gentleman farmer that is a blacksmith forge on a small stand with a similar gagetron deal. The gearbox pulls off to power the forge blower. And you also fit the gearbox to the anvil thing like yours, but first take off the top part of the anvil. Then then gearbox is used as a horizontal drillpress. The gear handle fits several shaft ends to gear it up or down. All very cool things. Mine is made by Champion I think.
