I have a 1950 chevy coupe with a 358 and a muncie 4 speed in it. I custom built the engine mounts. I also am running the original front clip on it as well not a mustang 2. I have been looking into some headers to use for awhile, but the closet ones that look like they would work are the s 10 engine swap headers. My main problem is the steering box preventing me from using the block hugger headers. also they must be shorty because of the use of my original master cylinder so the pedals will not come in contact with the exhaut collector. I have looked into sandersons headers for my type of build but from the looks of it the pitman arm will still come in contact with the exhaust. I have thought about using some fender well headers from speedway but this car will be my daily driver. I also already have a heavy foot so i want to try and atleast keep the noise down a little bit. Anyone have any ideas on what headers would work. I also am trying to stay away from custom built headers. Any ideas?

I'm using Sandersons on my 51 and they fit great, however the pitman arm will touch the collecter with the wheel turned all the way to the left. I'm pretty sure a Hedman 68600 camaro header will fit without interfereing with the brake pedal.

cant you run the fenderwell headers with a full exhaust on them?

perhaps a cap at the front wheelwell and then the rest is under the car. it shouldnt be any noisier than regular headers i would think.

I have already looked into the s 10 swap headers im afraid that they are to long because of my master cylinder clutch assembly and pedal assembly as well.

have you looked into the 3/4 length headers?

my 54 still has its six, but someday i may rebuild the 283 in the garage and the info you find will help me.
