Hot Rods The most influential rod of the decade?

This is just me but i like just about everyone i have seen posted. Now i might prefer something different than the ppe or a full fender but to each his own and to see people who still build a rod is what i like.

I haven't seen one (posted yet) that isn't a reflection of something past. Of course after history is re-written, again, some recent build will garner the acclaim.

 

Me too! Also the Tom Branch gold roadster.

 

Most influential of the decade for me I think are the Bones boys which revert back to probably the Doane Spencer roadster of the 40s/50s which comes back to 3 Window Larrys car. The combination of those cars sure gave me a direction with the last roadster (HopUp 10) that I built.

 

You do realize you are on a board about traditional hot rods?

 

this is my friend of a friends car, hes in the "sidewinders" in the bay area. He doesnt take this car out much, but it is by far, one of the nicest coupes in the country. Its a 32 chevy.

 

Wow Ironfly. You and I are on the same page.. I remember all those cars and the impact they had when they came out. Especially when the PPE came out. I remember when he fired it up at mooneyes and the crowd's reaction, or seeing it parked on the grass in Paso.
speaking of which, this one just popped up on egay recently. It was the one Anthony and Marky built for Boyd's son (of all people) if I remember correctly. It caused a big stir when it came out.

I remember Julio's extreme chopped and channeled 5w and his roadster with the firewall set back, when he was in the deacons.. and also that barebones modified they had. John Bade's track nosed hotrod was also cool, and he was a nice guy as well. and who could forget Tom Branch's roadster. I guess the deacons kind of just fizzled out and they went their separate ways? Influential club for sure though around that time.

Back then, you just didnt see too many modified's or cars with heavy chops cruising around.

I remember the choppers seemed like more of a traditional custom club at that time, and they were starting to build some cool hotrods as well.

Shag;s orange truck was also cool. havent seen that one in years!
