My grandkids - Banner, 6 1/2, Hope, 5, and Lily, 2 1/2 - think riding in my '17 Dodge touring car is one of the greatest pastimes. Lily will come in chanting, "Hot rod ride, hot rod ride," and all three notice and point out cars with the hot rod look or sound. I hope they fondly remember these rides when I'm gone someday, and their mother, my only child, owns this car for their occasional pleasure. BTW, each kid is belted into a safety seat.....
That is tool cool. My kids, when they are "good" for the day, get a special treat at the end of the day...a ride in the hot rod, dune buggy or even sometimes a ride on the tractor. I have the child seat in back of the buggy right now!
Awesome, I bet they are posting the same sort of thread one day about taking their grandkids for a Hot Rod ride. Doc.
Cool tub. I keep looking at my T-Bucket thinking "Tub bodies aren't to expensive. If i stretched the frame...". One of the first things i did to it was install seat belts so i could belt the little one's car seat in. My son giving the grandkids a ride last Thanksgiving.
My daughters grew up in the rumble seat. The World's Most Beautiful Granddaughter really likes to ride in my cars, in a very matter-of-fact way (I use one or the other as my daily). She is most fond of the truck; prefers the closed cab to having her hair blown in the roadster. Keep the car seat in the truck most of the time, never can tell when I might need it.
bill, i have 1 grandchild and another due to arrive in november and i can't wait to introduce them to "grandpa's cool old cars!"
Keep up the good work dudes,..p***ing the torch to the next generations is paramount to preservation of the hobbie! I give kids, clients kids, cousins, aunts, uncles, step grand kids, and pretty much anyone that hasn't ridden in an open roadster,..a ride, whenever I get the opportunity;..as this hobbie,...and my p***ions for it were 'sparked' by my grandfathers 'rides' in his 'big blocked' 'family-sedans'... actually drag racing a first year charger on the way home from getting ice-cream at age 5 is my 'fondest memory'...( but we won't,'and never-did-tell-grandma'...LOL)
My kid loves his hot rods. He is 4 and already calls the pickup his. He's grown up around the car club and a bunch of just plain cool cars. One of his very first words was "hot rod." No ****, We'd go to car shows and he would get so excited screaming, "HOT ROD!!!" everytime he saw one.
She would if she could. When I have all three kids in the rod, she's the only one yelling, "Faster, faster, go faster!"
i couldn't wait for my little one to be big enough to sit into a forward facing car seat so she could ride in my falcon. my buddies tease me about the car seat, i even leave the seat in the car when i race it just to mess with my buddies. someday i will hand her the keys.
We never know what kind of memories we instil in kids, but we can try to make them good ones. Keep it up grandpa! Bill
