Fix it yourself with solder and butane lighter.

So I took it in to a radiator shop and they told me that it needs a new core for $350. cus it seeps under pressure. I think that if its just seeping, why not load up the solder till it stops? can anyone school me on this?

what sometimes happens ..is that over time..61 yrs if its the original.. the core has became weak...the tubes have thinned out/or weakened & therefor seepers appear...usually that means that the core is to weak to have heat applied for the repair...If its tried, alot of times the heat will make the surrounding tubes just as weak..because the fins will dissapate the heat to surrounding tubes...then you have what is called travelers.thats why most shops wont try the repair....you end up with what you started with or worse....now if you want try low heat..blob some stuff on there & see if it works...but the shop cannot do it because of liability...or at least thats my experience....

its just past union and wilson i believe. the guy hardly speaks english so talk to his wife, but they did a great job on my 58 fords radiator, and charged realllly super cheap.

    Hi

You might want to look into a new aluminum radiator, like on ebay or from Summit. I got one for my 1964 Ranchero for around $200 and it really does a good job (hot rod 302). They cool a great deal better than br***/copper. I am going to use one in my 1952 Plymouth wagon also (hot rod 392 hemi).

I have a 50 PLymouyh rad I could sell you. The fellow that spoke about the heat and tubes is correct. That rad is different from most, and not the most efficent. Good Luck--Chuck

X2. I finally got tired of making junk yard radiators work on my T and got a alluminum 3 row for a mustang from Champion radiators on ebay. $250 to my door, made in Irvine ,CA I got it two days after I ordered it, and it is all guarented. Very good product, I recomend them. I am sure they would have something to fit your demensions and needs.
