The casting #'s 1024388C behind driver's side head 57LG with SGI under that behind p***enger head.

I understand that it may be a marine block seeing that it is a later model 1 piece rear main, 4 bolt main with a fuel pump mounting cast within the block which was strictly for marine applications from what I can tell.

I've already exhausted all of the decoding search engines and still haven't come up with anything. Would this block be considered hard to find and what would the value be? I appreciate all the help in advance.

You could try giving your local marina a call, they might be able to run the numbers for you.

Check the block opposite of the fuel pump mount and see if it says "Hecho in Mexico", if it does it is probably a parts counter replacement engine that was manufactured down South. There is nothing really special or better or worse just have it checked thoroughly before putting any money in rebuilding it.

Steve told me about your block. They all have the fuel pump casting. Is the fuel pump rod hole bored? Are the cam retainer holes drilled and tapped. Are the lifter "spider" retainer holes drilled and tapped? If so, it can be valuable as a marine block. There are no specific numbers for marine blocks (that I have seen) as they are the same as automotive. Main differences being cam, fuel pump and gaskets.:D

Minimal bore wear, good shape= $450.00 + to a boat owner with a cracked one. Marina will **** the guy anyway..
