I was there on Sat. Great weather and awsome machinery. Holy cow the traffic on 5 and 405 to and from LA is stupid! Is it always like that?
Joe you gonna be there tomorrow? I'm gonna drive the Chief up there in the morning for a couple hours.
That's why we appreciate that 16 mile buffer zone called "Camp Pendleton" separating San Diego from Orange County/Los Angeles County
I was there Friday and Saturday. Took 200+ photos which I will be sharing soon. Sorry to say I did not see this vehicle hoever. Ken
I went saturday. Took the wife and a friend. Our friend 42 years old and has never been to a car show. Being a photographer She went total camera crazy snapping pics of every car and everyone. I'll try to get her to load up some shots.
Got back from del mar.Went saturday. It was a good show.I did notice alot of street rods this year and fewer customs. The customs that were there were very nice.Hollywood hotrods 36 ford was by far the masterpiece of the bunch.Saw a few donks they let in but in general it was a great turn out.
went saturday and noticed alot of streetrods also. i havnt been in a couple years but the last time i went was imo much better. but still had fun anyway. and did they bump up the entry fee and parking? seemed more expensive.
Kirk, Thats very pink, kinda reminds me of the of the 80's street rod scene. No insult intended if this is a member's car. It was a period in time.
Hey Joe, I saw your truck today, I was up there from 11-2 or so. Lookin good. I drove my Poncho up there, but it sprung another coolant leak and overheated on the way back. Oh well, fun show!
One of my favorite shows in years!!!! Very high quality at this place. The main first building was WAY over the top with high tech stuff but everywhere else I was loving.Good mix of nice mildcustoms, lowriders, muscle cars and some bad*** trucks.A couple of nice KUSTOMS but not too many.It was great to see a REAL HISTORICAL KUSTOM from the late 40's that was worked on by the Ayalas and the Barris'.Im talkin about Jack Stewarts 41 ford.Yes its ruff right now but this piece of history gave me chills. It was nice to go to a show with no "Scene" no pompador contest,no high cuff contest,no barbershop setup,etc... .I got to talk to Jack Stewart and hear the history of his old sled and other kustom history. It was a great time.
sorry I missed you Ken, I was there and so was my truck all 3 days, had to park to the side of the first buildings, the truck sold and is going to Scottsdale AZ here is the last picture I took of it. I also have around 300+ pics I will link up to soon. Ron...
I posted some pix: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464698 Fun show, It was cool to meet Kirk... - Joe
Nice to meet you too. I hope you and the family had fun. Sunday is a good family day; plenty to see, but not the zoo that is Saturday.
We got home late last night. Wife froze all the way to Baker, I wrestled the car (bias plies and gusty winds) all the way home, some 400 miles. Had a GREAT time, met lots of new friends and caught up with some old ones!
Since you mentioned history, late nineteen forties it would still be called a Custom not "Kustom". That word wasn't coined, yet.... Just attempting to keep our automotive history correct, and accurate.
YES you are right ! It wasnt around yet, I just tend to call those early history cars Kustoms with a K since they kind of fall into the real custom era for me.I kind of cl***ify all the history cars as Kustoms or the cars that are built today that try to look like the ones that were built back then,if that makes sense . You are right though.
if any one would like to see 450 pics from the show click the link below http://rides.webshots.com/album/577312449LrfugE ,
