Truck arrived this week and I'm pretty excited to get it off the ground. The one picture I was sent off Criagslist really ****ed so I had no real idea of what to expect. Basically, a mixed bag. The cab was great from above the beltline. The bottom of the doors, rockers, and rear cab will need new metal (Howell's has nice patches). The only real tool needed so far for the tear down, however, has been a hacksaw The grill and hood turned out to be the real jems. I'm planning to chop and go fenderless but I don't want a bobber/Rudy style clone. Still thinking on how to be different yet retain traditional hot rod touches... Richard
I had a fenderless '35 pickup I built a couple years back, it was fun as I got it with just a cab only, but when I look back now, these trucks look better full fendered. If mine came with fenders when I got it, I'd have kept them on it IMO. Here's a couple shots of it just for fun.
Nice 35. Btw, I moved from ****ord/Anderson OH area a couple of years ago. I loved going to the Friday night cruise at ****ord.
Yea, they're a good time for sure, getting bigger every year. Gonna run outta space one of these times I bet.
Minewithnoshine, your old truck is one of my favorites!!!!!!!Good luck on your build 35,I love these trucks with or without fenders
OK, moving like mol***es in the winter, but finally got the cab off and all parts removed to sell. I mocked up the grill to just get a sense of how this thing will start to look. Next steps are to get the cab blasted and start collecting patch panels for all the rust. I'm changed gears a little and run 16" '35 ford wires, plainted black with wide whites. My dad has convinced me to think about a Nailhead with a 2-four intake for an engine (pretty cool-huh). Otherwise may go Y block or something else a little off the beaten path. Bought a '35 coupe dash but will need the sides fabricated to fit. Lots of work to do and plan to take my sweet time. I'll post more pictures when something worth while happens! Richard
Congrats - Cool project - if going traditional don't lower it to the ground and don't do a radical chop - for an update try a T5 behind the Buick mill
