Did a cruise down old Route 66 yesterday with my family and friends. This is what makes everything you put into your ride all worth while. Here are a couple of pictures.
Excellent post. I've go a bunch a guys here in the Detroit downriver area talking about doing the same thing. Any advise? Where did you start from and how far did you go?
We just made a big 70 mile loop that left from our house and went down Route 66 and then came back on some nice country back roads. The only advise would be just do it and have fun!
Sounds like a great time. Thanks for the pics! I'm hoping to make the trip someday, it's a 4 hour drive to the nearest section from here, but there are plenty of other old highways to explore
My original intention when buying my rough, disassembled Pontiac Convertible was to travel Route 66. That was back in '91. Now, the car sits in the garage waiting to be finished...someday. Thanks for sharing your pics. I'll keep on dreaming.
This thread is so cool i just came back from a vacation trip into the grand canyon and drove on old route 66 and it felt like i was a rebel not to drive the new highway 40 down west in arizona. I was driving 66 near seliman arizona the view was just great people were nice and well just a good time and hear are some pics of the old stuff i found along the way. Knuck from indiana.

Hey strawberry yeah the pics came out ok. It was a great time you know i took a trip like this in california a year ago in napa valley grape vineyards of america man a lot of old tin over there also, it was nice i will post pics soon. Thanks knuck from indiana.
Kinda makes me wish I had spent more time of 66 back east. Started at Santa Monica Pier and by the time we got back there all I wanted to do was get to Chicago and turn around and get home.
Some parts of the road on route 66 are like shit!!! 4x4 maybe the best but for the most part smooth sailing. Knuck from indiana
...that is the reason Flower and I took three weeks last year to do Route 66 from Santa Monica to Lake Michigan and back. We didn't want to be rushed in any way. It's the ONLY way to do that run.
