What do i have???????

o.k. guys, pulled these and some ford engines out of my uncles ba*****t today, all he knows is he thinks they are pontiacs. any help would be great....as for the cranks----can not find stamps or numbers to i.d. them.....tom

 

I'd guess that same as your uncle something close to the 400 would be my guess. Like out of a later '60 Firebird.

Maybe someone else knows more about it.

I could be wrong, but there should be the cubic inchs on the drivers side of the block down low towards the front.

just looked, nothing there on p***. side on the painted block there is a gm1 the other has a m2. i'm a ford guy------how do i end up with this odd ball stuff.....

 

I was wrong they didn't start that till 1970.

 

look for a 2 letter code on the p***enger front of the block. like YA or similiar.

 

I think the one without paint is a late 66 400 cast for the 67 year.

 

the no-painted on has yz but the other just has numbers??? could they both be 400???

Yz is deffinately pontiac Either 389 or 400 ,One of them is a 66 and other one is 63

 

yep, two freeze plugs per side = 66 and earlier

3 plugs is 67 and later. casting date is december 23, 1966

and YZ decodes as a 1967 GTO HO automatic engine. You sir just scored. I would love to have that motor to replace the original HO in my 67 GTO. Did you get the heads or the crank?

took me awhile to decode everything.

 

so i guess i should chang the add saying 150 for both?? yes they are for sale---blocks cranks and two boxes of pistons-rods. thanks for the help guys.

 

not sure on the 63 but the 66 is worth more.

thanks again on the decodeing ya its deal--i dont have any thing to put them in and no garage to store them---they are in the house right now...plus with these two i got a 352 fe 406 fe and a 429 why do i take other peoples junk???????
