Hey everyone, I'm re-building my stromberg BVXD-3 carb and found that the Accelerator pump check valve that was in the carb had the little steel ball removed. I say removed due to the tool marks so I don't think it just fell out. The kit that I got has a new Accelerator pump check valve with the ball in it. What could be the reason for this modification?

My guess would be that someone tried to clean the valve (not all kits have them) by removing the ball; and then didn't get the crimp correct so the ball fell out.

The only reason I can think of to remove the ball would be to disable the accelerator pump for better fuel economy in city driving. AND it might make driving difficult!

" AND it might make driving difficult!"

Do you mean with or without the ball?

Without the ball would disable the accelerator pump; probably making in-city driving difficult.
